This might be the longest Socially Speaking column in Shorebread History. That means that there are tons of rad things happening on the Eastern Shore this weekend. We’ve picked some of our favorite activities, events, and other forms of entertainment to share with you. Get out and enjoy yourselves! Here goes nothing:

3rd Friday in Salisbury

Gear up and get out to Salisbury, MD on Friday, April 20th.  Third Friday in downtown Salisbury starts at 5 pm. A variety of talented local artists will set up shop on East Main Street in downtown Salisbury to display their art, sell their hand-made goods, or exhibit their photography. The event is free to attend, which leaves no excuses for not hanging out and having a good time with friends and family. Celebrate the creative culture that resides on the Eastern Shore of Maryland at Salisbury’s 3rd Friday this week.
 
Blues Jam in Snow Hill
 
The 5th Annual Snow Hill Blues Jam will take place at the Old Snow Hill Firehouse on Green Street on Friday, April 20th. This year's event will feature the Snow Hill All-Stars and Slim De Nunn and the Highrollers from Salisbury. The Snow Hill All-Stars are returning to their hometown event for the fifth year in a row featuring Mr. B on guitar and vocalist Margot Resto. Doors open at 6:30 pm. The opening act will take the stage at 7 pm. Ticket are $20 and available online only at www.sharpworks.org.
 
Pork in the Park
 
It’s time for Pork in the Park! The 3-day festival provides good food, live entertainment, and great events for the whole family. Entrance is only $2 per person at the door. Children under 12 are free. Competitions will take place for different styles of BBQ, chicken, and wings. Rides and games, craft vendors, and other services will be present. The event runs 4 – 10 pm on Friday, 10 am – 10 pm on Saturday, and 11 am – 5 pm on Sunday.
 
Earth Day Clean Up – Take Pride in Berlin
 
Take pride in Berlin Day is Saturday, April 21st. Starting at 8:30 am, participants who would like to make a difference in the Town of Berlin can register to lend a hand, use a trowel, or do some digging with a shovel. Those interested in helping are encouraged to meet at Stephen Decatur and Henry Park on Saturday morning. The parks and the town will be cleaned up, new plants will be placed into the soil, the Hudson Branch will be cleaned up, and new or overgrown trails will be cut. Guests are urged to bring gloves, garden tools, towels, wear appropriate shoes, and be ready for some hard work. Free food and festive fun will be available for all who take part. Henry Park is located on Flower Street in Berlin. Stephen Decatur Park is located on Route 113 in Berlin.
 
Wooden Decoy Class
 
A free class will be held at the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art on Saturday, April 21st from 10 am – noon. Decoy carver, Harry Jackson, will lead participants in creating a Chickadee silhouette decoy. These decoys will meet the requirements to be entered into to the youth division at the Ward World Carving Championships next weekend. Earth Day at the Zoo
 
The Salisbury Zoo will open their gates for an Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 21st. Enjoy food, educational activities, and little talks from the zoo keepers. Demonstrations from, and exhibits by, more than 20 earth-friendly organizations will take place. This event is extremely kid friendly. Admission is free. The zoo, located on S. Park Drive in Salisbury, MD is open from 10 am – 4 pm on Saturday.
 
Race for the Cure
 
The inaugural Eastern Shore Race for the Cure is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 22nd in Ocean City. The starting line is on the boardwalk, just south of Somerset Street. The event features a timed 5k run, 5k recreational run, 5k walk, and a 1-mile family fun walk. The Survivor and registration tent opens at 6 am. A Survivor walk is scheduled for 6:45 am, followed by photos at 7 am. The other walks are scheduled starting at 8 am. The event benefits the Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen Foundation. Earth Day at OC Organics
 
Ocean City Organics will hold an Earth Day Fair on Saturday, April 21st. Guests can sample organic strawberries and whipped cream, taste fair trade coffee and chocolate, and try free range organic meats. Green cleaning samples will be distributed and vegetable and herb seeds will be given away. Blackberry and gooseberry plants will be available for purchase. Attendees can enter to win a basket filled with organic goodies. The raffle benefits the Rachel Carson Foundation. Ocean City Organics is located on Route 50 in West Ocean City.
