It’s officially summer on Delmarva and we are enjoying every single second of it! This time of year, events abound, including tons of kid friendly options for those of you visiting the Eastern Shore or for local families looking for fun family outings. In addition, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy as we wrap up the end of June, from yoga at the Salisbury Zoo to a free outdoor movie in Downtown Berlin. We find ourselves on the beach or poolside as much as possible this time of year, but when the sun sets, the clouds roll in, or we can’t take the heat anymore, we love to find local happenings to enjoy. Take a look at a few of the area events happening this weekend and enjoy all that summer has to offer here on Delmarva:

Kids Catch-All

When: Friday, June 26-Sunday, June 28

Where: Indian River Inlet Marina

What: There are plenty of fishing tournaments for the adults on Delmarva, but how about for the kids?! This weekend, Delaware State Parks will host the Kids Catch-All fishing tournament for kids ages 3-18 at the Indian River Inlet Marina. Kids can fish by boat or land, in the ocean, bay or inlet. Enjoy a pasta feast Saturday evening along with an awards dinner Sunday evening. Registration is Friday night and Saturday morning – call 302-227-3071 for more info. Cost is $25.

Salisbury Zoo 4th Fridays

When: Friday, June 26, 4:30-7:30pm

Where: Salisbury Zoo

What: The Zoo is offering a terrific opportunity to visit the Zoo after regular visiting hours, with 4th Fridays at the Zoo to be held all summer long! Enjoy live music, animal enrichment, educational animal encounters and more, including animal-themed yoga for children and adults. Just bring your mat and enjoy yoga in the Zoo. 2015 Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival

When: Saturday, June 27 & Sunday, June 28 (Sat: 9am-4pm; Sun: 9am-3pm)

Where: Historic Complex at Second and Shipcarpenter Streets, Lewes

What: Enjoy a day of arts, crafts, demonstrations, exhibits and more! Last year, over 5,500 visitors enjoyed the event. Admission is just $5 per person; children under 12 are free. Visit historiclewes.org for more details.

Art’s Alive

When: Saturday, June 27 & Sunday, June 28, 9am-5pm

Where: Northside Park in Ocean City, MD

What: Ocean City’s biggest fine arts show returns for its 15th year, with over 100 artists showcasing and selling their works, lunch at the Artist Café, and free art activities for the kids.

Run Across MD

When: Saturday, June 27, 10:30am

Where: The entrance arch at the Boardwalk &North Division Street, Ocean City,MD

What: In case you need a refresher, we first presented you with Caitlin’s Run Across Maryland this spring, and this weekend, her race will come to a triumphant end in Ocean City. Fans will gather to cheer Caitlin and her fellow runners on as she completes her 390 mile run. Caitlin’s run was inspired by Limbs for Life Foundation, which provides prosthetics for deserving individuals. To date, Caitlin has raised $20,750! Go Cailtin!

Wallops Island Flight Facility 70th Anniversary Event/Open House

When: Saturday, June 27, 10am to 4pm

Where: NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops Island, VA

What: It’s been exactly 70 years since Wallops Flight Facility launched its first rocket, which took place on June 27, 1945. To commemorate the event, Wallops will open its doors to the public this Saturday, allowing visitors the chance to explore the aircraft hangar, the scientific balloon lab, the sounding rocket payload facility, and the range control center. The day will also include a Wallops Runway 5k Run/Walk at 8am. Enjoy over 60 exhibitors, aircraft on display, robotics demonstrations, special presentations, and live entertainment.

Outdoor Movie on Main Street

When: Saturday, June 27

Where: Jefferson Street, Berlin, 8:30pm

What: Runaway Bride has long been synonymous with the Town of Berlin, after all, the movie was filmed in our small town! The Town of Berlin is throwing it back this Saturday night with an outdoor screening of the romantic comedy on Jefferson Street (by the Atlantic Hotel and the Worcester County Arts Council). Head downtown to enjoy the free outdoor movies and enjoy all the Main Street Berlin has to offer.
