The BJs on the Water 36th Annual Canoe Races hit the local bays today, marking the return of a highly anticipated Ocean City summer tradition. Not for the faint of heart, the canoe races bring together small armies of staff from local establishments, pitting them against one another in a battle for the champion’s title. In a nutshell, local restaurants send teams and a cheering squad to duke it out in the water for a few hours. For the young summer staff, it’s a fun-filled event that many participate in year after year, with several key players asking off weeks in advance to attend. Today was no exception, with another  terrific turnout of participants and spectators decked out in their team attire and lined up along the deck. We stopped by just before the torrential downpour rolled though town to document some of the fun. Take a look:
