It’s time to bid a warm farewell to the month of February, which will hopefully be met by an unseasonably warm March! We would be lying if we said we were sad to see February go, but mostly because we are SO excited for what spring has in store for us. But first things first, this weekend’s happenings…Cambridge is throwing down for their annual food festival, which celebrates two local culinary staples – muskrat and crawfish! In Ocean City, cheerleaders and soccer players will fill the town for their respective tournaments, and in Salisbury, enjoy a night out on the town courtesy of ConnectUSby. All that and more…

Reach the Beach Nationals

When: Friday, February 26 – Sunday, February 28

Where: Ocean City Convention Center

What: One of the first signs of spring is when the cheerleaders head to town in OCMD. The conventions kick off this weekend with the Recreation and School Division of the annual Reach the Beach Nationals Competition. Dance teams will compete for the national championship title all weekend long.

St. Patrick’s Indoor Soccer Tournament

When: Friday, February 26 – Sunday, February 28

Where: Northside Park, Ocean City

What: Hundreds of teams will compete in the annual St. Patrick’s Indoor Soccer Tournament, which kids off this weekend in OCMD. The schedule for this year is as follows:

February 26-28 – U18 Girls and Boys Divisions and NEW Adult Co-Rec (6v6 with min. of two female players)
March 4-6 – U12 & U16 Girls and Boys Divisions
March 11-13 – Adults Men and Women over 18
March 18-20 – U10 & U14 Girls and Boys Divisions

FebBREWary Bar Hop with World Renown Beatboxer

When: Friday, February 26, 7pm-2am

Where: Downtown Salisbury

What: ConnectUSby is kicking off their events for the year with a FeBREWary Bar Hop through Downtown Salisbury. The $5 cover will get you into Roadie Joe’s, The Brick Room, and Headquarter’s Live, each of which will have plenty of food and drink specials including $2 Bud Lights and Natty Lights, $3 Huggie Bombs,$3 Wine Bombs, and $4 Fireball shots. The night culminates with a headlining show at Headquarter’s Live: USA Champion Beatboxer Jonaton JFlo Lopez.

Seals on the Beach

When: Saturday, February 27, 11am

Where: Seaside Nature Center, Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes

What: For ages 7 and up, this educational event focuses on the seals that visit our local beaches during the cold-weather months. Find out who they are and what these marine mammals are doing on our beaches in the winter. Pre-registration is recommended by calling 302-645-6852. Program fee is $2 per person.

Taste & Learn Chef Series with Paul Cullen

When: Sunday, February 28, 3pm-5pm

Where: The Spice & Tea Exchange of Ocean City

What: The Spice & Tea Exchange of Ocean City presents the first in a four-part Taste & Learn Chef Series. First up is a cooking concert with Paul Cullen, former Bad Company bassist! Paul will be preparing four dishes featuring the spices of the Spice & Tea Exchange of Ocean City and paired with Jazzy Italian Vino. Tickets are $48.47 per person.

Crawfish Boil and Muskrat Festival

When: Sunday, February 28, 12pm-5pm

Where: Cannery Way Park, Cambridge, MD

What: The Baltimore Sun dubs this event as ‘one of the state’s more unique food festivals,’ and with local culinary items like muskrat tacos and muskrat gravy fries, we have to agree. The 3rd annual festival features an array of items to feast on, including crawfish cakes, crawfish gumbo, smoked muskrat, boiled head-on shrimp, and oysters on the half shell. Live entertainment will include Blackwater from noon until 2pm, followed by Tom Principato from 2pm until 5pm.
