Workshop – Buffers & Other Strategies for Resiliency Across Our Coastal Landscapes

November 18, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

| free

As communities feel the impacts from coastal flooding and storm surges, lower shore conservation efforts look to strengthen community resiliency, protect natural and built resources, and explore strategies and resources that will preserve our natural and cultural resources across the lower shore.

Hear from Erik Myers of The Conservation Fund, Jen Raulin, Reserve Manager with the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Center, Kate Charboneau from the Maryland Critical Areas Commission and Kate Patton from the Lower Shore Land Trust. Learn about pilot projects for land management in coastal areas of Blackwater and Deal Island. Examples include marsh adaptation and ditch plugging – successes and questions. The Maryland Critical Areas Commission will offer resources for planning and planting buffers along coastal properties. Kate Patton from the Lower Shore Land Trust will talk about land conservation programs and best management programs to enhance coastal resiliency and habitat.

There is no charge for the workshop and reservations can be made by calling 410-641-4467.
