We are in the final home stretch in our Memorial Day Weekend Countdown, anxiously awaiting the official start to the 2014 summer season but that’s no reason to skip over this weekends’ festivities in Worcester County. Spring Restaurant Week; May 4-18
In a nutshell, Restaurant Week gives diners the chance to sample some of their favorite dishes for a great price. Each participating restaurant will be offering their regular menu, but they will also be offering a special Restaurant Week fixed price menu. The menu options vary with each participating restaurant and could be a $10, $20, $30, or $40 fixed menu price. Dining options range from simple to fine dining. Restaurant Week, or week(s) rather, runs from Sunday, May 4 to Sunday, May 18, however be sure to check each participating restaurant for any restrictions. Also, be on the lookout for Bonus Bites & Beverages, with some restaurants offering an extra value with discounted desserts, a wine flight, or a signature cocktail.
Cruisin’ Ocean City; May 15-May18
Every spring and fall, Ocean City teems with classic cars cruising up and down Coastal Highway and congregating in the Convention Center and Inlet parking lots. The popular car show features over 3400 hot rods, customs, classics, street machines, muscle cars and more.
Berlin Cruisers; Saturday May 17, 10am to 2pm
America’s Coolest Small Town makes way for the bi-annual Classic Car Show, held every spring and fall in Historic Berlin. Classic cars will roar into town for the show, which will feature hundreds of 50s, 60s and 70s classic cars of all types. While in Berlin, be sure to visit all of the quaint shops and delicious bakeries and restaurants that make Berlin the Coolest Small Town in America.
International Museum Day
Did you know that May 18th is International Museum Day? Well now that you do, make plans to visit the Ocean City Lifesaving Station Museum on the south end of the Ocean City Boardwalk. The museum will be honoring International Museum Day with free admission and an open house. The Ocean Pines Community Church welcomes the season finale, “An Organ Sensation,” directed by Julien Benichou, along with a pre-concert talk started at 2:15.
Assateague People’s Pow Wow; May 17-18, 10am to 5pm
Join the Assateague People of Delmarva for their 21st Annual Drums on the Pocomoke Native American Powwow at Cypress Park in Pocomoke City. The Assateague People of Delmarva are a spiritual tribe determined to keep their rich culture and traditions alive through public education about Natives. This weekend’s powwow will be in honor of Chief Larry “Medicine Cat” Smack. The Assateague People of Delmarva invite you to join in the celebration with Native food, drums, dance, stories, crafts and special appearances by the 2004 Indian Summer Music Awards nominee, winner of the 2005 and 2006 Silver Arrow Award and five time Washington Area Music Awards nominated singer/songwriter Georgie Jessup.
