Well, October sure did come and go quickly! We certainly made the most of it, with plenty of adventures across the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Southern Delaware. In addition to soaking up the warm autumn sun along the beaches, we made sure to hit as many local festivals and events as possible, including Apple Scrapple, Oktoberfest in Berlin, O.C.Toberfest, Halloween Happenings at the Salisbury Zoo and much, much more. We don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon, especially now that we have our November calendar of events to look forward to! Halloween is over, and fast on its heels is Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season. What are we looking forward to the most? Winterfest of Lights, Bark for Life, the Waterfowl Festival in Easton, the annual Cocoa Crawl in Rehoboth, Salisbury Hero Day…we told you we had another busy month on the horizon. Take a look a this month’s local Delmarva events and plan on joining us in the fun:

Pocomoketoberfest

When: Saturday, November 7, 12pm-6pm

Where: Cypress Park in Pocomoke City, Maryland

What: Mother Nature may have derailed the October plans for Pocomoketoberfest, but this weekend’s rain date is looking perfect for the annual beer & wine festival. Enjoy Eastern Shore beer and wine, free tastings, a free commemorative glass, arts and crafts, great food and live music.

Salisbury Hero Day

When: Saturday, November 7

Where: Downtown Salisbury

What: The Hero 5K and Warrior Canine Walk will return to Salisbury for its second year, as dogs and participants gather to celebrate our veterans, first responders, and active soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. There are three ways to participate: in the 5k walk or run OR Warrior Canine Walk, by cheering on participants, and/or by enjoying the downtown food, drink and music provided by Froggy 99.9. Registration for the 5K walk is $30 and $20 for the dog walk.

Concert & Job Fair for Returning Vets

When: Saturday, November 7, 11am-7pm

Where: Headquarters Live, Salisbury

What: Headquarters Live and WRDE are combing forces to help support our returning Delmarva Veterans with a music fest and job fair. Bands will include Old School O.C. featuring Linda Sears, Billie Carlins Band, and Randy Lee Ashcraft.

Rehoboth Beach Cocoa Crawl

When: Friday, November 6, 5pm-8pm

Where: Downtown Rehoboth

What: Wine, dine, and shop local! This annual event is chocked full of terrific deals, tasty treats, delicious drinks, and plenty of local art and shopping. Wristbands for participants are just $10 and will benefit local charities.

Give Paws and Thanks

When: Thursday, November 12, 6:30pm

Where: Captains Galley II, West Ocean City, MD

What: The Worcester County Humane Society will host their 35th Annual fundraiser dinner, which will also include their 5th annual cash raffle drawing. To be held at Captains Table, the evening is $60 per person and includes appetizers, dinner, dessert, beverage, taxes and gratuity. $25 per person goes directly to the WCHS, our local NO KILL animal shelter. Music and dancing will round out the evening, along with silent and Chinese auctions.

Bark for Life Berlin

When: Friday, November 13, 5pm-7pm

Where: Berlin Fire House & Downtown Berlin

What: Berlin welcomes its first Bark for Life event, which aims to raise funding and awareness for the American Cancer Society. Everyone, pets included, are affected by cancer, which is why the evening is designed to empower people through their canine partnerships while touting the mission of the American Cancer Society.

Waterfowl Festival

When: November 13, 14 & 15

Where: Downtown Easton

What: The Waterfowl Festival is one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year in Talbot County. The three-day event boasts a little something for everyone, targeting outdoor enthusiasts, dog lovers, artists, wine and beer aficionados, and more. Discover local artwork, shop the vendors, enjoy the wine and beer pavilion, or visit the various events and exhibitions, including the Dock Dogs Competition.

Belgian Beer Festival

When: Saturday, November 14

Where: High Street, Cambridge

What: The High Spot invites you to join them on High Street to taste Belgian-inspired beer from regional breweries, along with food from local restaurants.

Downtown Milford International Food Festival

When: Sunday, November 15, 11am-4pm

Where: Downtown Milford on the Mispillion River

What: Milford presents the inaugural International Food Festival this month, with a fantastic lineup of food vendors, including Abbott’s Grill, Arena’s, Bibi’s Taqueria, La Chimenea, and Westside Restaurant, to name a few. Email community@downtownmilford.org for more information.

Winterfest of Lights

When: Thursday, November 19-Monday, January 3

Where: Northside Park, Ocean City

What: Hundreds of animated, lighted displays and over one million holiday lights will illuminate Northside Park in OCMD for the annual (and much beloved) Winterfest of Lights. This year’s holiday fun begins on Thursday, November 19 with the tree lighting and kickoff event. Winterfest of Lights is open on Sunday through Thursday from 5:30pm until 9:30pm, Friday and Saturday from 5:30pm until 10:30pm.

Brown Box Theatre Presents “Lab Rats”

When: November 19 (Salisbury) & November 20-23 (Ocean City)

Where: Headquarters Live and Ocean City Center for the Arts

What: Our friends from the Brown Box Theatre Company are back on Delmarva this month (you might remember them from Shakespeare in the Park a few months ago). This time, the traveling theatre group will present “Lab Rats,” a world premiere production by Patrick Gabridge. Tickets are on sale now at brownboxtheatre.org.

Light Up Downtown Festival

When: Saturday, November 21, 3pm-6pm

Where: Downtown Ocean City, Boardwalk at the Inlet

What: Bring the family to Downtown Ocean City for some FREE holiday family fun, including holiday shopping, vendors, tree lighting, kids’ crafts, games, prizes, gift drawings and visits from Santa. Live music with One Night Stand.

Berlin Tree Lighting & Holiday Arts Night

When: November 27, 5:30pm-9pm

Where: Downtown Berlin

What: The holiday season will officially begin for us on the day after Thanksgiving at the annual Berlin Christmas Tree lighting! The festive event kicks off with the tree lighting, followed be an evening of holiday arts and shopping in all of our favorite Berlin shops and restaurants.

Ocean City Holiday Shoppers Fair

When: Friday, November 27-Sunday, November 29 (Fri & Sat 10am-5pm, Sunday, 10am-4pm)

Where: Ocean City Convention Center

What: The annual holiday shopping extravaganza returns with quality photographs, jewelry, nautical items, toys, candles and more. Santa will also be available for visits with children.

Downtown Rehoboth Beach Holiday Tree Lighting & Sing-A-Long

When: Friday, November 27, 6:30pm

Where: Rehoboth Beach Bandstand

What: The town will transform into a winter wonderland on November 27 as hundreds of spectators gather to ring in the holiday spirit in downtown Rehoboth Beach. The Sing-A-Long begins at 6:30pm with the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus, followed by the tree lighting at 7pm.

5th Annual Oyster Week

When: November 21-29

Where: Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Cambridge

What: Celebrate oysters all week long at the Hyatt in Cambridge, including culinary highlights and historical and aquaculture presentations. Oyster cookout, oyster cooking demos, oyster and wine tasting, oyster shell ornament making and more!
