As Game of Thrones, the Farmer’s Almanac, and well, common sense predicted, winter has finally arrived. As soon as cold weather hits, we find ourselves more and more likely to bundle up on the couch with blankets and a poorly executed dinner and ride out the storm until the first signs of spring. As tempting as this is, there are actually plenty of reasons to leave the house during the month of January, starting with Berlin Restaurant Week!

It’s the first time the Town of Berlin and its participating restaurants will host an official Restaurant Week, but we are certainly no strangers to Restaurant Week(s) here on the Eastern Shore. Salisbury, Ocean City and Rehoboth are just a few of our local towns that put together a week (or sometimes two weeks) of specials to entice guests to come out during the off-season for a good meal and good deal. Berlin is the latest to jump on the Restaurant Week bandwagon, and with some new restaurants in the small town, it’s no surprise to see the addition of Berlin Restaurant Week.

So what to expect? A full-week (January 11-17) of food specials for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner at all of your favorite Berlin restaurants. According to Berlin’s Director of Economic & Community Development, Ivy Wells, the idea is to provide locals and visitors with a chance to warm up in some of the town’s fantastic restaurants while avoiding the crowds that fill the restaurants during the busier season.

“The diversity of all of our restaurants allows people to experience all of the various dining options that Berlin has to offer,” said Wells, noting that she hopes it will expose diners to the expanding restaurant scene in Berlin. “The next time they are thinking, hmmm, where should we eat tonight then they’ll say ‘Let’s go down to Berlin and choose!”. Many people don’t realize we do have a multitude of restaurants to fit everyone’s tastes.”
