Poseidon Festival 2019
The Band Stand Plaza will fill with entertainment and exciting activities for the 4th Annual Poseidon Festival May 24-27. Live Sand Sculpting on the beach will begin Friday at 11am, kicking off the weekend event. Throughout the event, local artist George Zaiser will be creating a sand sculpture to capture the essence of the Poseidon Festival. Carving begins at 11 am each day and continues until completion. Parrotbeach, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, will bring live music and everything Jimmy Buffett to the stage later that day at 7:30pm.
Saturday will be filled with events, meet and greets, and entertainment throughout the entire day.
Pirates on the Plaza
Saturday from 1-5pm, Captain Cortez and his accompanying pirates will take you back to the ‘Golden Age’ of Pirates. Watch live sword demonstrations, and come dressed as a pirate or mermaid for the chance to win prizes. There will be tons of photo opportunities!
Live Mermaid Tank
Do you love mermaids? Come see a live mermaid on display in her tank from noon-6pm Saturday, and watch interactive performances throughout the whole day. There will be cracking of pearl oysters to be given to the first 50 guests, so get there right at noon!
Hermit Crab Derby
Pick your crab, give it a name, and set it out to win the race! This event is fun for all ages, running Sunday from 1-5pm.
Other events taking place on Sunday include a Marine Science Camp (an open-classroom environment exploring ocean life through hands-on activities), Skim Board Classics (a camp teaching the basics of skim boarding safety and etiquette), and the U.S. Navy Country Current (a musical performance from an ensemble of U.S. Navy members).
Other Live Music at Poseidon Festival
Enjoy music Saturday by Sons of Pirates at 3pm and 4:30pm, and by Chris Sacks Band at 7:30pm. Sons of Pirates will play all the familiar Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, and Zac Brown hits you know and love. Chris Sacks Band brings a mixture of red-blooded American tunes with a Caribbean vibe.
Festival Closes With Aloha Summer Luau Show
Say hello (or, Aloha) to the summer season as the Poseidon Festival comes to an end on Monday, May 27! At 1pm, the luau show will make you feel like you’re on the Polynesian islands, featuring dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, and New Zealand.
Watch Downtown Bethany Beach come alive with this exciting festival for the fourth year in a row!
