The world is what we all have in common, so why not learn the ways that we can preserve and cherish it? Up until last year, there seemed to be several small, yet important victories for conservationists alike.

It is now more important than ever to take every opportunity you can to learn about our Earth and the things YOU can do to protect it. Luckily, for most of us, it just requires a few very minor changes in our everyday life.

Each year it is the goal of Salisbury Zoo to promote environmental awareness and teach people how they can also become good stewards of the Earth. This year, join them in their endeavors to safeguard our planet during their annual Earth Day event on Saturday, April 21st from 10 am to 4 pm.

Be sure to bring all of your old electronics to the parking lot for recycling and get ready for a day full of activities! Some of which include: zookeeper talks, recycled craft activities, face painting, as well as animal meet and greets!

In conjunction with the Earth Day event will be the 17th annual Zoo Stampede 5K. The race will run through the zoo and Salisbury City Park from 9 to 11 am. Now in its 16th year, the race is one of the best 5Ks in Salisbury. For more information and to download a race application visit www.salisburyzoo.org.

Both events are a great way to connect with not only your family and community but also to our roots as human beings living in an ecosystem we all call home.

As Dr. Seuss once said, “Unless someone like YOU cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Make Earth Day great again by learning how you can join the cause. For more information on this event please visit http://www.salisburyzoo.org/maryland-salisbury-zoo-events-news.
