‘Tis the season for spring cleaning. Good Feng Shui is all about creating a positive environment around you. A clean and organized home has a huge impact on your well-being!
1. Begin by starting outside of your front door. This is considered the mouth—how all energy comes into your home.
  • Sweep your porch and path to your entry. Remove any weeds or dead plants (which bring negative energy).
  • Place a plant on each side of the door to create balance; plant welcoming flowers/ plants around the front of your home.
  • Hanging a flag or wind chime on your porch creates a positive energy flow coming into your home.
  • Place a black or navy mat at your front door. This is symbolic of the water element and brings wealth chi.
2. Now, moving to the front door. Ask yourself these questions:
  • Is the door working properly? If not fix it immediately.
  • Can you visibly see your house numbers; do people have a hard time seeing them? If so, make them visible.
  • Is there clutter around the door? Keep this area free and clear so you do not block the flow.
  • Red doors are considered lucky. If you don’t feel brave enough to select such a bold color, consider black. It is the water element for wealth chi.
  • You may also want to put a fountain or aquarium at your entryway for more of that wealth energy coming in.
  • Always make your entry inviting. It is the first thing people see entering your home.
3. Clearing negative energy in your home is important.
  • We all know what stagnant chi feels like—stale, heavy, and blah making your energy levels lower.
  • Clear this energy in several ways:
  • Opening windows letting stale air out and fresh air in is a simple solution, but might not be enough for some homes.
  • If there has been turmoil, stress and sadness in the home it needs more work.
  • Try burning sage, going into every room and all around to every corner of each room.
  • Use Orange Peels (use in amounts that can be divided by 9, the luckiest number in Feng Shui); spread around the home in all rooms.
  • With both of these solutions, windows should be opened so negative energy goes out the windows.
4. Cleaning inside your home has a huge impact on making you feel healthier and more positive.
  • Making your home clear of dirt, dust, pet dander, etc. can improve allergy problems.
  • Use an air purifier and check air filters regularly. Doing so will improve the quality of air you are breathing in.
  • If you have fans turn them on to move stale air energy around, but turn them off while you are sleeping.
  • You should organize your home and get rid of anything that no longer serves a purpose. “Stuff” weighs you down; keep things light and tidy.

Applying these principles makes you open to new opportunities that will amazingly begin to come your way. I have heard many great stories from people who had life-changing good karma when they did these simple things. When you apply your Feng Shui Solutions, always do so with intent. Lighten your mood and be open to what you want to come your way. When you are very specific about what you want, combined with your new positive attitude, makes these opportunities come to you much faster.

These are just a few of many things you can do to improve a more positive environment for your home and your well-being.
