The Red Doors Community Center, known for offering community-centered, innovative classes for all ages, is about to go on a hiatus for the summer tourist season. Special events will still be held during the summer months, but if your children are fond of attending hands-on classes like the Fresh Chefs, or enjoy creating one-of-a-kind creations with Kristie Maxa, April is the last month to take these regularly scheduled classes until fall. Spaces for all classes are limited; those interested are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.

Current April Classes (last spring opportunities) Include:

Storytelling Yoga: Ages 2-5 with an adult

When: Thursdays in April 4, 11, 18
Time: 11:00 am -11:45 am
3 sessions for $30
Instructor: Carol Jenkins- Pike, RYT 200 Yoga certified instructor

Craft Lab: Terrariums!

When: Sunday, April 14th
Time: 2-3:30 pm

Create a terrarium using clay to create ‘magical miniatures’ to decorate these individual masterpieces! Class is taught by Kristie Maxa of Kiki Burleigh.

$12 fee; Ages 4 and up with an adult. Must register by Saturday, April 13th! Drop-Ins cannot be accepted for this class.

Fresh Chefs! Farm to Table Cooking for Kids

When: Friday, April 19th
Time: 5-7 pm
Fee: $18; includes child’s dinner
Instructor: Mendy Fiori

Ages: Current grades PreK(4) – 4th

Kids learn to cook, and then eat, their own healthy dinners, while you go out and have some much needed alone time. (Yes, this class is a drop-off!) Even formerly picky eaters have fun and learn something new at Fresh Chefs!

Gluten Free/Vegan/Organic Cooking Class with Debbi Dean-Colley

When: Saturday, April 13th
Time: 6-8 pm
Fee: $38 includes your dinner and dessert.

Learn to live healthier by cooking and eating better. You won’t miss what’s missing from the food – namely anything unhealthy. You’ll be preparing simple food full of variety and flavor. Recipes will be shared so you can easily recreate them at home. Debbi’s meals are 99.9% Organic, Vegan, and can be Gluten Free/Wheat Free.

The Red Doors cautions that Town of OC parking meters are back up and in effect Friday-Sunday. For those attending a weekend Red Doors class in April, parking is available in the Polynesian Condo overflow lot north of the community center (NOT the main Polynesian lot east of the community center) to park vehicles during classes, courtesy of Mann Properties.
