Downtown Salisbury has been making strides to turn its downtown plaza into a thriving economic center in recent years, encouraging businesses to return to downtown Salisbury. While the road to a successful downtown revitalization is a long and arduous one, the recent sale of the 19.000 sq. foot historic building along W. Main Street to the Salisbury Dance Academy/Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre is certainly a step in the right direction.
Miller Commercial Real Estate in Salisbury, MD recently announced the sale of the old First National Bank building, located at 201 West Main Street, to Marc Amy and Elena Manakhova-Amy. The two-story, 19,000 square-foot building was built in 1920 and has been lying vacant for many years. The long-vacant building will be the new home for the Salisbury Dance Academy and the Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre. Renovations are reportedly already underway, with plans to have the Academy open in time for the Summer Camp Classes in June.
In a recent statement, Marc and Elena explained that “after many years of looking at properties with Brent Miller we finally found that special property that gave us the Academic feel we have always wanted. We are excited to be a part of the Downtown Plaza Rejuvenation and to provide our students with a world class education in a beautiful historic landmark.”
The Salisbury Dance Academy offers dance training for dancers ages 3 and up, offering a wide variety of classes, camps, education and shows year-round.
