About the Artist:

Marian Bickerstaff, originally from Telford, PA, has been painting oil since the late 70’s, starting with a paint set that she received as a gift. She studied with several painters locally in Southeast, PA and also at Montgomery County Community College. She received several awards from local shows and two blue ribbons from the Perkiomen Valley Art League Shows. In 1990, one of her pieces – Skippack Barn in Snow II, was chosen for the cover of the Souderton Independent’s Christmas Insert. Some of her works have been sold at auction for non-profit fundraisers. Her early works were signed “Marian Alderfer” and her most recent works are signed “MB” in heart shaped letters. Historically, most of her works are landscapes or seascapes.

More recently, after moving to Ocean Pines, MD in 2007, she has begun experimenting with pastels, abstracts in acrylic and mixed media. Her work is also shown locally at the Worcester County Arts Council and past shows at the Ocean Pines Library. She has also been featured in the local “Artist in the Spotlight” in the Daily Times. In addition to painting, she is also an active photographer and enjoys the creativity of computer generated design and flower gardening.
