We are all familiar with the mad holiday rush of “Black Friday”. And, we are well aware of the saving to be had on “Cyber Monday”. So, how about the warm fuzzies of “Giving Tuesday”?
Yes, “Giving Tuesday”, a day set aside for us to GIVE instead of GET things. The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) will kick off Giving Tuesday, with an all-local online campaign called “THE SHORE GIVES MORE”. The efforts will get underway the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (the day after Cyber Monday!).
Working with nonprofit organizations in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties, the CFES is hoping the collaborative effort for Giving Tuesday will remind area residents that the holidays are about giving to those in need. CFES President Erica Joseph hopes this years’ team approach will yield even better results than last season. “This giving season the Foundation is inviting nonprofits in all three counties of Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore to actively promote charitable online giving through this expanded campaign.”, said Joseph.
One hundred percent of all charitable gifts made by donors through the Shore Gives More website will benefit registered nonprofits and all processing fees are paid by the Hershey Family Fund at the Foundation. This enables 100 percent of all online contributions to go directly to the nonprofit organizations.
Nonprofit organizations in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties are highly encouraged to register for either of the information sessions, or to participate in the campaign by registering online at www.shoregivesmore.org.
