Just when I thought that October had a lot of runs going on, November looks to be just as busy with lots and lots of races and of course some Turkey Trots to keep you on the move! Again I will try my best to provide you with information about as many local races as I can and PLEASE comment with other races that I might have missed!

Saturday, November 5th

  • Be Great 5k Run/Walk. This race starts at Buffalo Wild Wings in Dover and takes you out on the St. Jones Isaac Branch Trail. The race starts at 9:00 am with a free kiddie run at 8:50. The race benefits the Great Dover Boys & Girls Club. The post race activities feature a moon bounce, a $5.00 voucher for Buffalo Wild Wings and fun for the kids!   • 2nd Annual Henlopen Conference Alumni 5k Run/Walk. The race starts at noon at Killens Pond in Felton, Delaware with registration started at 11:00 and the race at 12:00. Directly after the race the Henlopen Conference Cross Country Championship event will take place!   • The NFL Football 5k Challenge. If you love football and running this race is for you. This event takes place in Ocean City at 10:00 starting at 27th street on the boardwalk. This event allows you pick your favorite team (Ravens, Steelers or Redskins) and race to win bragging rights of yourself and your team!   • C&D Canal Half-Marathon. If you are looking for a longer distance race for the month, check out this one! Now in its second year this flat Half starts at 8:00 am and runs along the C&D Canal. Sunday, November 6th

  • 2nd East Coast Regional 5k Run. If you cannot make it to the Saturday event, check out this 5k run the following day at 9:00 at Killens Pond State Park. This race is $10.00 if you preregister through 10/3 and $12.00 after the 3rd. There will be no event T-shirts, however you can buy one. All proceeds go to the Seashore Striders Youth Fund.   • Foot Pursuit 5k Run/Walk. Just by the name of this race I think it sounds fun! The Foot Pursuit 5k is a newly added race to the area and takes place along one of my favorite running trails (Fred Hudson/Prickly Pear Trails). The race starts at 9:00 with the kiddie race at 8:50. Another reason I cannot wait to do this race is because of what it supports: Camp Barnes. This facility provides free summer youth camps and has also been the home of the Strike Out ALS race for the past 2 years. Come join in on the foot pursuit!! UPDATE THIS RACE IS CANCELLED FOR 2016!!!

  • Girls on the Run 5k (Kent/Sussex County). If you want to see a sea of pink, sparkles and girls dominating a 5k course this is the place for you. The GOTR events DO NOT disappoint and truly are amazing!   • Vp 5K Race. This is a FREE family-fun 5k that takes place right at Vernon Powell in Salisbury. Come for the fun and change to win SO many prizes!! Friday, November 18th

  • Dashing Through the Snow 5k Run and 1.55 Mile Walk. This is a brand new race and I so wish I could run it (I will be heading out of town for the Annapolis Half Marathon). This race takes you through the Winter WonderFEST’s dazzling Light Spectacular that is set up at the Cape Henlopen State Park. The race starts at 6:00 pm with registration started at 4:30. Saturday, November 19th

  • Gobble Wobble 5k.  This 5k takes place at Lake Forest North Elementary School in Felton, Delaware. The 5k features a kiddie K starting at 8:50 with the 5k starting at 9. THANKSGIVING- November 24th

  • Fenwick Island Turkey Trot 2 Mile run/walk. Now in its 9th year the Fenwick Island Turkey Trot is a free 2.2 mile fun run/walk that starts on Lewes Street in Fenwick Island. The course runs to the Maryland state line and back to Lewes Street. All are welcome, especially well-behaved, leashed pets as well as holiday and festive costumes. While there is no fee to participate they always ask that you make a donation to either American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer or bring a non-perishable food donation to be donated to Neighbors in Need. The race will have complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and oatmeal at the Pottery Place Perks Café. You can also purchase commemorative long sleeve t-shirt for $20.00.   • Gabby Gobble 5k. This year is in its 3rd year and takes place at Irish Eyes Pub in Lewes, Delaware. The race starts at 9:30 with registration opening at 8:30. Dress in Thanksgiving attire for a change to win some gift cards or prizes!!   • Annual Turkey Trek. This race takes place at the Pemberton Historical park beautiful natural trails on Thanksgiving morning. The race starts at 9am and is followed with refreshments and holiday pie to get your Thanksgiving  feast day started!   • 3rd Annual Turkey Trot 5k. This race is presented by Body & Soul Fitness Spa in Seaford, Delaware. The race starts at 9:00 with a free kids run at 8:50.The 5k is on a very flat and fast paved course and starts right at the Body & Soul Fitness and Spa. The race benefits the Good Ole Boys Foundation which does AMAZING things for anyone in need in the local area. Saturday, November 26th

  • 7th Huffin’ for Pumpkin 5k. My 2nd favorite Thanksgiving inspired race is this one. You run, you eat pie- that is my kind of event! This race starts at Grove Park in Rehoboth at 9:00. The course is a great out and back with a boardwalk portion and of course PIE at the end! Take your pick of a variety of pies for your finish line prize!   • The Greene Turtle West OC Thanksgiving 5k. This 5k starts at the Greene Turtle in West Ocean City at 8:30. While there are not too many details on the website about this race I have to assume there will be some good post-race food since it is a Greene Turtle sponsored race.   • Redneck Romp 10 Miler & 5k. This race takes place at Powell Memorial Park in Wachapreague, Virginia. The race is now in its 3rd year and shows off the scenic seaside waterfront town of Wachapreague, which is also known as the flounder fishing capital of the country! The race starts at 9:30 and offers unique trophies, finisher medals and an after party! Come out and support the Waste Watchers of the Eastern Shore.
