You’ve finally met your partner for life and the wedding date has been set! Now, onto the exciting, wonderful and sometimes daunting task of searching for the perfect wedding dress. If you’re unsure of what style works best for your big day, no need to panic. The experts who own and work in the wedding dress boutiques are there to help navigate you through the endless racks of chiffon, satin and silk. We were curious, though, about the wedding dresses that are available for today’s bride? We dove in head first and what we found may be pleasantly surprising!

Lace Wedding Dresses

Lace for days! If you are a fan of lace, then we have good news for you. Wedding dress designers are incorporating lace in their dresses in so many different fashions. Whether you like a little lace on top, lace accents or a full lace design, you are in luck this year. Lace really caters well to a romantic and vintage-themed wedding, while remaining a comfortable and lightweight material for a day when comfort is absolutely key.

Plunging Necklines

Okay, prepare yourselves for the deep plunge. Yes, wedding dresses are taking a big plunge from their ancestors, quite literally. The deep plunge dress is available in so many different styles, which is an added bonus since we all have such different body types. You can find this style in a Mermaid dress, a Ballgown dress, A-line dress, and long or short. Many of the deep plunge designs that we found have lace or beading embellishments to compliment the design of the dress and are really quite beautiful. Don’t be afraid to take the plunge… you’ll love it!

Wedding Capes

Something new we haven’t seen before are wedding capes. No, you won’t look like a superhero on your special day (although that would be pretty awesome). Think “Jackie O” circa 1970’s! There are short capes and long capes. Capes made of lace, chiffon, faux fur and tulle. You may even score big and find a cape that is embellished with pearls and crystals for that extra little glitz and glamour on your wedding day. Whatever the cape may be, choose the best dress first and then do your best to partner your dress with a cape.

Wedding Dresses with Bows

“When in doubt, put a bow on it!” ~ Brandy Pham. It seems that the oversize bow really took over the wedding runways in the 2017 dress sneak peek, so go ahead and rock that bow! A dramatic bow on your train will add a bonus feature to your wedding gown or accentuate your waistline with a bow sash. The bow will do all the talking for you, so feel safe in knowing that your accessories can be minimal. We don’t foresee this timeless classic leaving the wedding boutiques any time soon. If you are planning for a wedding beyond the 2017 season, chances are pretty great that your bow will still be as gorgeous as you are.
