It’s no secret that we at Shorebread are huge animal lovers, so when we heard about Run for the Animals in Onancock, Virginia on April 2nd, we knew we had to sign up. Run for the Animals features a half marathon, 10K and 5K. The best part? Your canine companion is also welcome to run! There will be doggie water bowls along the course to ensure they stay hydrated. Baby strollers are also welcome. The race will kick off at 8:30am on the 2nd. Afterwards, runners can enjoy a post race celebration at noon.
Run for the Animals began in 2012. All net proceeds from the run support local animal organizations serving the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The top 5 fundraisers for the event will also receive awards, in addition to the competitive race awards. In the spirit of keeping the benefits of this event local, Run for the Animals also commissions a local metal craftsman to make unique trophies for the event.
If you’d like to participate, you can register at the Run for the Animals website. Registration closes March 31.
