On April 22 and 23rd, Winterplace Park in Salisbury will be transformed into a festival ground filled with delicious smells of barbeque for Pork in the Park. The festival features 6 different musical acts, craft vendors and activities for kids. Purchase a wristband for $10 and your child will have access to a rock wall, laser tag and an inflatable park with over a dozen inflatable bounces and obstacles. Children can also go on pony rides for $5 or take a ride on the Roaming Railroad for $3. Wander over to the Kids Corner and enjoy carnival style games, animal shows, dance performances, magic shows and more! Check the Kids Corner schedule to find out which activities are going on during your visit.
For us, the best way to enjoy Pork in the Park is by eating! We love the Eastern Shore Wing War on Saturday from 1:00 – 3:00pm, where local restaurants compete for the title of Best Chicken Wings. For just $10 you can sample 2 wings from each participating restaurant and then vote on your favorites. Stick around to see which restaurant is crowned the champion!
For those that consider themselves pulled pork connoisseurs, attend the Pork War on Sunday from 1:00 – 3:00pm and sample pulled pork from four different vendors. Tickets are $10 and you get to vote for your favorite vendor. Use your supreme knowledge to tell your friends which vendor they should try at the festival!
We’re also very excited to see that the hot air balloons will be returning to Pork in the Park. During the day, enjoy a tethered balloon ride that goes up to 60 feet in the air. At 6:00pm on Saturday and 6:15am on Sunday the balloons will be doing non-tethered passenger flights. If you’d like to take a non-tethered passenger flight you must make advanced reservations. At 8:00pm on Saturday the balloons will illuminate. Get additional details on hot air balloon pricing and reservations.
Admission to the festival is $3 per person, with children 12 and under gaining admittance for free. The festival will be open from 11:00am – 9:00pm on Saturday and 11:00am – 5:00pm on Sunday.
