Grab your inflatable tube and head over to Seaford, DE for the 23rd Annual Nanticoke Riverfest on Saturday, July 8th, 2017. With a name like “Riverfest” it’s safe to assume that there is plenty of fun to be had on the Nanticoke River. But, with a full day of events, covering several city blocks in downtown Seaford, the name is a little deceiving.
The float-in is probably the most iconic event during the Nanticoke Riverfest. Starting at 7:30 am, head to the launch site with your tube. Park downtown and take advantage of the pre-float shuttle service to avoid the hassle of parking. The float-in only costs $1 to participate and early registration is advised. A limited number of tubes will be available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis, but bring your own just to be safe. Once you’re in the water, enjoy the float! Let the current carry you down the river and take some time to take in the view.
After floating around in the warm sun, cool off by visiting the vendor area and grabbing an ice cream cone, lemonade, or milkshake. Once you’ve finished your snack, get ready for more fun with events like a fishing tournament, car show, treasure map search, children’s activities, and a health fair. You’re sure to find fun for the whole family at the Nanticoke Riverfest.
When you’re ready for lunch, check out one of the restaurants in town. Hard2Handle is serving up huge subs and salads and Doña Maria’s Pupuseria is making some delicious, authentic Salvadorian food. If you’re looking for something quick, downtown will have no shortage of food vendors with offerings like BBQ, crab cakes, wings, pizza, and hot dogs.
After lunch, head over to City Hall to see Jungle John’s Reptile Show, Professor Horn’s Punch & Judy Show, and The Juggling Hoffman’s. Then, head over to the Main Stage for the Little & Miss Riverfest Pageant.
