Count Crabula will be crawling his way into Rehoboth Beach for the 28th Annual Sea Witch & Fiddlers Festival the weekend of October 27th-29th and you should too! The Bethany Beach and Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce are the hosts of this spooktacular event as WRDE MBC Coast TV has been named its official mega monster sponsor. With over 34 different activities and events to partake in, this weekend on the shore is one you certainly won’t want to miss. The highlights of the festival are as follows:

On Friday, kick off the weekend with the Tyke Bike Roll on the Boardwalk. All ghouls, goblins, and of course their proud families will meet where Rehoboth Avenue intersects the Boardwalk. Registration will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the event will officially start at 3:00 p.m. where little ones will take a short stroll on bikes, trikes, big wheels, foot powered rollers, and wagons from the bandstand up to Grottos Pizza. This event is donation based and kids on wheels are required to wear a helmet, so come prepared!

Later that night, make your way to the Haunted Graveyard and Spooky Bonfire in Dewey where Dogsworthy Street runs into the beach. There will be live music provided by a rockin’ DJ, plenty of dancing, a spooky ghost story teller, refreshments, games, and more! Parking will be free and this event is very much weather dependent although we are counting on clear skies.

Then on Saturday,  join the Woodland String Band mummers, local bands, thousands of costumed participants, decorated cars, and the Nur Shriners for the grandest Costume Parade that the area had to offer kicking off at 11 a.m. The procession will be led by the Seaboard Hotels & Simpler Family who was named 2016’s Business of the Year and will include Macy’s Day style parade balloons. Judges will award trophies to the top 25 walkers, top 25 rolling/motorized floats, along with the judge’s favorite bands. Registration will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. in the Grub Grocery parking lot at 305 Rehoboth Avenue.

Afterwards, aim to take part in a Sea Witch Hunt where the finder of the grand prize can win up to $200! Bring your family along to challenge their scavenger hunt skills with a 100+ clue site location list that you can pick up with our official Clue Keeper. Hunters may travel from site to site in whatever order they choose in order to find the invisible Sea Witch. All guesses must be turned in by 5 p.m. and the winner will be announced at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. This event is donation based and if the weather turns ugly, will be located at the Rehoboth Beach Fire Hall.

End your weekend on Sunday with a sunny downtown, Rehoboth Beach Hayride provided by R and R Ranch. They will run from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center at Grove Park. These lovely fall rides are weather dependent but cost only $2.00 for children under 12 years old and $5.00 for adults!

There will also be horse shows on the beach by Maryland Rough Riders beginning at 4:00 p.m. so come out to support them as they perform. Spectators can watch as they provide choreographed routines along to music. The demonstrations will be held on the beach adjacent to the bandstand area and can also be viewed from the boardwalk so be sure to stop for your favorite snack on your way to watch. The shows are no cost and are also dependent on weather.

This is truly the weekend of the season that you won’t want to miss out on. So join us for yet another awesome Sea Witch Halloween and Fiddler Festival that will be sure to get the whole family into the holiday spirit!
