To celebrate 50 amazing years of community and Eastern Shore lifestyle, the Ocean Pines 50th Anniversary Parade will take place on Saturday, June 2nd at 10 am along Ocean Parkway. Immediately following the parade will be a Community Family Day celebration at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Anniversary Committee announced they are now accepting registrations for parade participants, inviting local marching bands, businesses, organizations, clubs and families to register!

Parade Chairwoman Carol Ludwig expressed her gratitude for the participating local high schools. “I am so proud of our three Worcester County high schools. Snow Hill, Pocomoke, and Stephen Decatur are forming a combined marching band to strut down Ocean Parkway on our very special day,” she says.

The cost for each group’s entry is $25 and can be completed online at www.oceanpines.org or in person at the Ocean Pines Administration Building (239 Ocean Parkway).

Free and open to the public, the parade will be sponsored by Mediacom, The Power of 2 Team and Avery Hall Insurance. While there is no entry fee for eligible sponsors, registration is required.

During the parade, traffic will be directed by the Ocean Pines Police Department and Neighborhood Watch volunteers. Heads up–Ocean Parkway will be closed northbound from Mumford’s Landing Road to St. Martin’s Lane starting at 9 am, and there will be no parking allowed along the northbound lanes of Ocean Parkway.

“Most of us know how much fun we had with previous anniversary parades,” says Chairwoman Ludwig. “This one should top them all.”

While the parade and following celebration will be a great opportunity to get out in the community and meet your neighbors, what would this event be without a little competition? The judges’ viewing area will be at White Horse Park along Ocean Parkway where they will present three Judges’ Choice Awards.

The celebration doesn’t stop here! Ocean Pines will host various events throughout the year in honor of its 50th Anniversary including a License Plate Raffle/Auction fundraiser on Saturday, March 24th in the Community Center. Here they will give out the first ten out of fifty official Ocean Pines, MD license plates to the highest bidders, and raffle off the remaining forty! Each raffle ticket will be $50.
