Spring is in the air and we are welcoming it with open arms! It’s been quite a cold winter and we cannot wait for all of the fun activities that the warmer weather has to offer. With the beach right down the street, it won’t be long until the area is busy and bustling once again.

One of the most festive ways to bring in the new season on the Eastern Shore is with the Annual Spring Celebration in Berlin! This year the event will be held Saturday, March 31st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The day will begin with a tasty Pancake Breakfast with Peter Rabbit. The three seating times available include 8:30am, 9:15am and 10:30am and require a reservation be made through the chamber at 410-641-4775.

After everyone finishes filling their bellies the celebration will move outside where there will be plenty of festive family-friendly activities such as a moon bounce, a petting zoo, face painting, live music by various youth performers, story time, and several arts & crafts that vary from planting seeds and succulents to building bird feeders and so on.

Around 1 p.m. children and their parents will scour the town in search of colorful eggs filled surprise goodies during the annual Egg Hunt. For those who may not want to participate in that, there will also be pony rides available from 1 to 3 p.m. Sherman the Shorebird is even planning to make an appearance!

Top off the day with the Bonnet and Mad Hatter Parade! Little girls and boys will strut down the street in handmade pieces featuring everything from found objects in nature to children’s own creative/artistic touches, to recycled goods, and traditional ruffles and bows. This year’s winning categories include Greenest, Coolest, Most Creative, Mad Hatter Overall, and Easter Bonnet Overall.

You’re probably thinking food, what about the food?! Well, there will be a variety of local kid-friendly vendors and food vendors including a local favorite, Street Kitchen! Girl Scout cookies will be available as well.

The Spring Celebration is free and fun for all ages. A few of the participating sponsors include Baked Desserts, WYSC Worcester County Youth and Family, Victorian Charm, On What Grounds Coffee Shop, Brudder Hill, Worcester County Developmental Center, Maryland Coastal Bays, Church Mouse and Sunrise Church. It’s a town event that truly embodies the spirit and charm of this small historic town which is why it’s been running strong for 23 years! So come out and join in the fun.
