Break out of your shells and shuck away with your family and friends, because it’s almost time for the annual Chincoteague Oyster Festival! For more than 45 years, this festival has been celebrating the opening of the oyster season. Along with delicious food, endless oysters, celebrations, and merchandise available for purchase, there will also be prizes and raffles throughout the oyster festival.
When & Where
On October 7, head over to Tom’s Cove Park, 8128 Beebe Road in Chincoteague. Gates open at 10am for admission and setup! Seafood will be served from noon until 4pm, consisting of all-you-can-eat oysters, clam fritters, french fries, hush puppies, and so much more. Beer can be purchased separately!
Tickets
Tickets to the festival at $45/person, and children under 5 years old get in for free. All ticket sales are final. We’ll be shucking oysters and indulging in delicious seafood rain or shine, but the event is subject to delay or rescheduling which will be advertised in advance.
Tickets may be purchased by ordering online here, calling the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce at (757) 336-6161 or visiting the Chamber office in the circle on Maddox Boulevard at 6733 Maddox Boulevard. Each year, the Chincoteague Oyster Festival sells out to attendees and to over 200 volunteers, so generally, tickets are not available the day of the event.
Seating & Parking
There will be a limited number of tables and seating available, so you may want to bring your own chairs and blankets! The Chamber and the Town of Chincoteague will provide a free trolley, but there will also be available parking on the grounds.
Souvenirs
Be sure to purchase souvenirs while you’re at the festival! These items go fast, so if you have your mind set on a certain t-shirt, mug, or hat, you may want to purchase your keepsake at the beginning of the festival.
