The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the eleventh annual “Taste of the Town” competition October 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Taste of the Town is an annual event in which local restaurants have the opportunity to take part in an “Iron Chef” style culinary faceoff and showcase a signature dish to the public. Attendees try samplings of each participating restaurant’s dish and vote for their favorite. The restaurant with the most votes at the conclusion of the evening is named the winner and receives a plaque and cash prize.

This year’s Taste of the Town will be held at the Salisbury University Art Gallery Downtown, at 212 W. Main Street, Suite 201, in Salisbury, Md. Tickets are $15 online at salisburyarea.com, or $20 at the door. Purchase price includes unlimited food samples, one voting ticket, and two drink tickets. Beverages will be featured from Evolution Craft Brewing and Layton’s Chance and Bordeleau wineries. This event is open to the public ages 21 and over.

“Hyphenative”, an exhibit by artists exploring hyphenated and hybrid cultures created by migrations throughout history, will be on display during the event. The show includes artists using mythic histories, reimagined folk traditions and cultural appropriation to embody contemporary traditions in several different mediums.

Businesses wishing to be involved in the competition or become a sponsor should contact the Chamber’s Director of Marketing, Media, and PR at 410-749-0144 or email mcoulson@salisburyarea.com.
