Approximately 500 baseball and softball players will make their way to Wicomico County this weekend for the Baseball & Softball Youth All-American Games, powered by Athletx.
Players ages 7-14 will travel to the Eastern Shore from 26 states and Canada.
The All-American Games brings together some of the best individual players in the country and creates teams to compete in tournament play. This is one of Athletx’s most prestigious events for individual players.
Participants have the opportunity to be selected for the Baseball & Softball Youth Elite teams that compete in various national events.
The event will kick off with an opening ceremony at the Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Friday, Aug. 16. The competition will take place at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex, which includes pool play, skills measurements and homerun derby showcases on Aug. 17-18, followed by bracket play and an awards ceremony on Aug. 19.
Athletx has partnered with the University of Maryland – Eastern Shore’s baseball team, who will provide coaching assistance at the event.
The event is expected to generate an estimated economic impact of over $1.7 million and a hotel room night demand of just under 2,000.
“We are excited to have Athletx bring a brand new event to Wicomico County this year,” said Cole Lacey, sports marketing representative for Wicomico County. “To see players travel from all over the country to participate in this event is amazing.”
