Ocean City was awash with a sea of green this Saturday in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. The Shorebread staff was out partaking in the festivities.

The 31st annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade ran from 59th Street to 45th Street. People were parking their vehicles as far north as 70th Street and walking down Coastal Highway just to settle into a place to view the parade. The St. Patrick’s Day parade included pipe and drum bands, several high school marching bands, and numerous festively decorates St. Patty’s Day floats. All paraded south down Coastal Highway filled with merriment in honor of the Irish Holiday.

Local bars and restaurants were filled with families clad in green, bagpipers in kilts, and partiers sipping on green drinks. Some hot spots? Seacrets, Smitty McGee’s, Shenanigans, Johnny’s Pizza, and Fager’s Island. Many establishments experienced their busiest St. Patrick’s Day since the rainy holiday in 2009. St. Patrick’s Day marks the opening of many seasonal businesses on the shore. It was refreshing to see Ocean City alive again after several dormant months.
