With the holidays around the corner, there is no better time to give back to the community than right now. There’s also no better way to give back than by having fun while you do it. Maryland Capital Enterprises (MCE) incorporates the spirit of giving with festive fun at their annual gala, to be held this Saturday November 16, from 6:00-10:00 P.M at UMES Student Services Ballroom.
Maryland Capital Enterprises is a nonprofit organization that focuses on helping companies with business loans, education, and consulting. ShoreBread was lucky enough to interview the directors at MCE a few weeks ago to learn about their most recent addition, the Women’s Business Center. MCE often supports small local businesses, which in turn benefits our entire community on the Eastern Shore. Headquartered in Salisbury, they play a large role in boosting our local economy.
The gala is a top fundraiser for MCE, helping the non-profit to continue to provide support to area businesses. This year’s gala will transport party-goers back in time with a Roaring 20’s theme. Guests are encouraged to play along and come in costume. The Gala will also feature a delicious dinner, a fabulous live band, dancing, and casino games.
Other fun activities to look forward to include a silent auction that will give guests a chance to bid on incredible prizes. Some of the items up for auction are a trip to St. Kitts, with airfare included, a guitar autographed by Taylor Swift, and several autographed movie posters.
As part of the night’s events, MCE will also award a well deserving recipient with the prestigious Palmer Gillis Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The three final award nominees are Bryan Brushmiller of Burley Oak Brewing Company, Ryan Miller of The Deli, Last Call Liquors and several other businesses, and Dawn Tilghman of Burnett White Tire and Automotive.
ShoreBread hopes that you join us in supporting our local area charities by attending their upcoming events. Don’t miss out on an exciting evening and a chance to make a difference in our community.
