Liquid Assets consistently makes it into our “Best Of” round-ups for a reason, the food never fails to amaze, the ambiance is equal parts casual and sophisticated, and the deals and specials are easy on the palette and the wallet. Shortly stated, we love this place. It’s been awhile since we’ve made it uptown during lunchtime to enjoy the $9 lunch combo, so when we found ourselves in uptown Ocean City one afternoon this week, we couldn’t resist stopping in.
Upon getting seated at the bar and catching up with our favorite bartender, we were immediately faced with a predicament – we wanted to take advantage of the Pick 2 for $9 Lunch Combo, however some new regular menu items were calling our names. So what do the ladies of ShoreBread do when we can’t decide on what to order?? We order it all anyway!
Off of the Pick 2 for $9 menu, we each opted for the spinach salad. The simple delight packs punch with candied pecans, apple slices, goat cheese, spinach and a drizzling of maple caramelized onion vinaigrette. For the pairings, we opted for the roasted seasonal vegetables and the creamy tomato soup, which arrives garnished with manchego cheese. With just the right amount of food, the portions would have been the perfect size for lunchtime had we not already overindulged on appetizers.
We couldn’t resist starting with the salmon avocado ceviche as well as the flatbread. The flatbread appetizer includes two generous portions or flatbread smothered in garlic chicken, butternut, broccolini and olive oil. We begrudgingly ate half and took the remainder back to the office for our boss. Next up was a refreshing pairing of salmon avocado ceviche. The ceviche arrived artfully displayed in a stout mason jar and paired with crispy tortillas (sorry boss, no leftovers from this one).
While we were busy satisfying our ravenous appetites, we caught wind of Saturday’s event, Liquid Assets Grand Tasting. Liquid Assets holds a number of wine tastings just about every Saturday afternoon, but this Saturday marks the biggest Saturday of the year, as all of the wine, beer and spirits purveyors descend on the 94th Street establishment for a FREE tasting event from noon until 3pm. All featured wines will also be discounted 10 percent for purchase.
