  • 4 gala apples (Medium, Skinned and Chopped)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • cooking spray
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (Chopped/Cubed)
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


The Fruit

  1. Skin and chop apples into bite size pieces.
  2. Spray the inside of the slow cooker. Combine “The Fruit” ingredients and dump into slow cooker.

The Crust

  1. In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, spices and salt.
  2. Add the cubed butter to the flour mixture and with a pastry blender, cut the butter into it.
  3. Combine the milk and the vanilla. Pour that into the bowl with the flour and butter. Mix together.
  4. Pour the mixture over the apples in the slow cooker. Spread evenly. Cover and cook on low for 3.5 to 4 hours, or until the topping has set.
