By the time you read this post, Christmas will have come and gone. The gifts have been exchanged, the holiday feasts have been enjoyed and you have sung every last Christmas carol that you can possibly think of. The preparation has all been worth it, but the kids are still on holiday break… for like 8 more long days. What are you supposed to do? How do you entertain them? No worries, we have a full list of options for you. As long as the gas tank is full and you are game for just about anything, this holiday break should be a walk in the park!

Movies:

Luckily, the Christmas season tends to be a big movie season for kids! Below are a few of the kid-friendly movies that are playing in local theaters this week –

Fantastic Beasts – rated PG-13: Playing at Sun & Surf, Regal Salisbury, Movies at Midway and Clayton Theater

Sing – rated PG: Playing at Regal Salisbury, Fox Gold Coast, Sun & Surf

Moana – Rated PG: Playing at Regal Salisbury, Sun & Surf and Midway Movies

Planet Maze:

Planet Maze is a great option during the holiday break because they have activities for all ages. They have the Climbing Maze for younger kids, Laser Tag for everyone 8 years of age plus, and arcade games. If the weather is on the mild side, the outdoor golf course may even be open for play!

Public Parks:

Salisbury Zoo – the Zoo is such a great way to spend a day during mild winter weather. An opportunity to check in on the animals that we have grown to love, plus a little play time at Ben’s Red Swings Park is an awesome way to spend a day. In addition, pack a picnic and extend your outdoor time just a little bit longer.

Stephen Decatur Park – the Stephen Decatur Park, located at the corner of Rt. 113 and Tripoli Street is a fantastic choice for when you need a large field to play tag football, walk the baby stroller on a winding path through the trees, jump into a friendly game of tennis and let the kids run around to the different playground equipment suitable for many ages.

Northside Park – located at 125th street and the Bay, Northside Park is Ocean City’s largest and most popular park facility. So many fields to choose from for open play for lacrosse and soccer, plus two huge playgrounds to choose from. This park will make you a big fan of outside winter-time play.

Ice Skating:

The Carousel Hotel offers various amenities, but the real highlight during the winter season is their ice skating rink. Bonus, the cost is fairly inexpensive for a fun family activity coming in at only $8.00 per person for skate time and rental skates. Have your own skates? Sweet, save $3.00!

Bounce Houses:

Beach Bounce – located in the Food Lion shopping center at 9936 Stephen Decatur Highway, Beach Bounce is the ideal location for the little ones who need to let out a little extra energy. They offer open play each day for only $9.00 a child and entry includes unlimited play in the bounce houses, climbing maze and other floor activities.

Coco’s Funhouse – this 7,500 square foot facility is located in The Twilley Center at 337 Civic Avenue, Coco’s Funhouse has been bouncing for years, in addition to the climbing maze and imagination playground blocks. They offer open play each day that they are open from Tuesday – Sunday. Be sure to check their website for holiday hours posted. Bonus, wear your Coco’s t-shirt and get $1.00 off admission!

Bowling Alleys:

Ocean Lanes located on 72nd Street in Ocean City offers open play on most days during the week. Bonus, they offer winter specials October – April at specific times on Wednesdays and Sundays for only $2.25 per person, per game!

Millsboro Lanes located at 213 Mitchell Street in Millsboro, DE offers open play each day of the week at various times. The cost per game, per person is only $4.25 + $2.00 shoe rental. Friendly note: they only accept cash at this bowling location.

Southbound Alley, formerly known as Cherokee Lanes, is located at 1524 S. Salisbury Blvd. in Salisbury, MD. Pricing varies per time of day for each day, so be sure to check their website for accuracy on the day that you’re planning to go. One thing that we love about this bowling alley is that they allow you to “rent a lane” on Sundays! Yes, you can rent a lane for unlimited bowling on Sundays!

Indoor Mini Golf:

Old Pro Golf is mini golf-done-right during the winter season. With two locations in Ocean City, miniature golf enthusiasts will have two very different landscapes to choose from. The Safari Village is located on 136th Street and Coastal Highway while the Undersea Adventure Mini Golf is located right down the street on 68th Street and Coastal Highway. Both locations also offer arcade games and awesome prizes for the kids to choose from. Bonus, kids 3 and under are free with paid admission!
