This is the time of year I start to think about what I am going to be wearing to all the many Holiday parties that I will be invited to.  (Yes, a girl can dream of fabulous parties and events so feel free to invite me, hint, hint!)Because this is the season for giving, I put myself on a very strict budget and try not to spend money on myself or on things that I don’t really need. We all know how hard it is to stick to this especially with all the amazing, glittery, sparkle tops and dresses that are in the stores!

The key is to pick one signature piece that you want to invest in, and then use accessories to reinvent your look for each party. There is also nothing wrong with wearing the same dress if you are going to see different people. I know, I know, Facebook makes this really hard since everyone wants to post every picture from every angle and tag you in it, but I will share little tricks you can use to even work around that!

Below are 10 items that can go a long way in your wardrobe:

1.   LBD “Little Black Dress” – This does not have to be the traditional dress that you may be thinking of, it can be something totally modern but versatile.

2.   Boyfriend Blazer – This has the ability to pull together your look without looking like you tried too hard. Think effortlessly cool. You can also choose other colors here besides traditional black.

3.   Crisp White Blouse – The key word here is ‘crisp‘ which is ironed and very tailored. This is a great piece to pair with a black skirt and heels for a sophisticated polish.

4.   Black Skirt – This can be long or short.  A pencil skirt is perfect for an office party and a mini or bubble skirt is great for a night out on the town.

5.   Leopard Belt – A belt will pull together any look, but a leopard belt gives you a feeling of ‘city chic’ and can add a splash of glamour and texture to a simple dress.

6.   Red Heels – Are a great way to pop some color while wearing all black.  I like to mix red & navy, which can be an unexpected alternative to a little black dress; call it your LND.

7.   Gold or Silver Clutch – It depends on what you prefer.  I like to have one signature clutch that I carry for the entire holiday season. Remember to buy a clutch that serves your needs – cell phone, camera, make up for touch ups, and keys. There is nothing worse than having to put your personal items in your friend’s purse because you were not being practical.

8.   Faux, (or if your lucky enough), real Diamond Earrings – They are great to have especially of you are not sure what other jewelry you are going to wear. Gold or Silver Diamonds work with everything!!

9.   Jewel Tone Top – This is a great way to spice up your denim and a nice match up to mix with your blazer. If I am attending a house party or going out dancing with the girls on New Years Eve, sometimes this is a great way to be comfortable and sassy all at the same time!

10.  Faux Fur Coat- This is another way to glam up any look. I love the way it has an old Hollywood feel, pick a taupe or beige for versatility.
