Nestled into the idyllic coastal community of Bayside in Selbyville, DE, surrounded by a mixture of natural beauty in the form of trails and waterfront views and creature comforts like state-of-the art homes and community amenities, sits the Freeman Stage—a performance and educational venue dedicated to bringing arts to the shore.
The Freeman Stage is backed by the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation who, together through partnerships with various sponsors, presents memorable performances and educational opportunities in the arts that enlighten and elevate the human spirit. The Freeman Stage at Bayside is celebrating their Fifth Anniversary this season.
The summer 2012 performance schedule at the Freeman Stage includes a variety of talented artists and musicians—from world-class performers and national recording artists, to circus acts, old-fashioned storytellers, and children’s bands—the line-up delights young and old, alike.
Among the many standout features of the Freeman Stage, is the Foundation’s commitment to bringing children’s entertainment and arts education to the coastal area. Young would-be future performers can attend one-day camps taught by professional theater actors; or, thanks to a partnership with Salisbury University, students can participate in longer camps, and they can interact with some of the performers who take the main stage at night through hands-on learning experiences. And of course, families can see live theater productions, children’s bands, and orchestral masterpieces performed right before their eyes.
The arts inspire children, and offer an outlet of personal expression and creativity that can allow imaginations to soar. Below is a listing of the planned performances and activities that are geared towards children at the Freeman Stage at Bayside this summer. Here’s to the arts on the shore!
