Get out this weekend and do something fun on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It's like a never-ending festival this weekend… Between the Berlin Peach Festival, the Great Pocomoke Fair, and the antique equipment festival, there's plenty of fair food, fun rides, and things to do and see that everyone will be happy. There's a ton of history found in our coastal towns and we know how to celebrate it. Hang out in Ocean City, Berlin, Pocomoke, or Federalsburg this weekend to enjoy these activities. Socially Speaking, ShoreBread has you covered. Happy August!

Movies on the Beach

Families in Ocean City on Saturday can sit back, relax, and watch a movie on the beach. Free movies, projected on a big-screen, take place oceanside on 27th Street in OC during the summer months. On Friday, August 3rd, the movie Winnie the Pooh will be screened. Beach movies are weather-permitting and will be cancelled if bad weather occurs.

Berlin Peach Festival

The 4th annual Peach Festival takes place on the ground of the historic Taylor House Museum in Berlin, MD this Saturday. The event is known for its different peach baked goods, preserves, ice cream, events, concerts, and history centered on the Calvin B. Taylor Museum and the historic Harrison’s Orchard Company. The Harrison family once had several peach orchards on the coast. The orchards employed many locals and provided fresh produce for many markets and grocers. Now-a-days, Bennett Orchards serves fresh peaches at the festival. A rain date is set for Sunday, August 5th. The event runs from 11 am – 5 pm.

Great Pocomoke Fair

The Great Pocomoke Fair originally began in 1901. Fair-goers traveled to Pocomoke on the train to see the exhibits, games, and particularly the horse races. The Fair closed in 1930, a victim of the Great Depression and was reorganized in 1991. It’s taken place every year since. This year, the event takes place August 3rd and 4th. Kid’s games, a pageant, harness racing, tractor pull, and fireworks are event attractions. For more information, check out the Fair on the web.

Wheat Threshing Festival

The 52nd annual Wheat Threshing Festival will occur in Federalsburg, MD on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Guests can see steam engines, gasoline engines, antique tractors, shingle sawing, basket making, and more live and in person. A parade of antique equipment will begin at 5 pm each night. A miniature steam train is a favorite for children. Admission to the event is free and parking is, as well. For more information, visit the Thresher Men website.
