WOC Fitness isn’t your typical gym. Unlike many other local gyms and fitness centers, WOC is a club where members can hang out around the clock. They can work out with other individuals who have similar thoughts about health and wellness and function on like schedules.

It’s kind of like WOC Fitness is like the good ‘ole bar, Cheers.
 
All of the members know your name. And they’re always glad you came. And you can see that your troubles are the same ones everyone else has. It really is just like Cheers.
 
Recently, the Ocean Pines Recreation and Park Department, Atlantic Health & Fitness, and WOC Fitness have partnered together to provide additional areas where members can reach their fitness goals.  Ocean Pines Recreation and WOC Fitness will be offering adult fitness classes at the Ocean Pines Community Center jointly, this winter.
 
Classes offered include BodyTalk, Pilates, Functional Strength and Cardio, Total Body Fitness, Yoga, Zumba, and Zumba Gold.
 
“These classes were added after evaluating other classes that the Pines had offered before,” said Tim Sebold, a representative of WOC Fitness and Soolis.com, a comprehensive fitness and wellness website based out of Ocean City, MD.
 
“Thus far, the new classes and partnerships of local businesses have been very successful. “
 
Participants will not only have access to fitness classes in Ocean Pines, but the partnership allows members full access to WOC Fitness weight training, spin bikes, tread mills, and a wide variety of other classes that have not yet been offered in Ocean Pines.
 
WOC Fitness will be sending some of their fantastic instructors to the Pines to teach specific classes. Many of the instructors teach classes at the West Ocean City location regularly and are excited to be traveling to Ocean Pines to work with new individuals. In fact, some of the instructors are Ocean Pines residents themselves. Instructors include Jeannie, Karen, Donna, Sue, Bonnie, and Tana.
 
“I have been in the gym industry for many years. Nowhere else have I ever seen personal attention to members as I have seen at WOF Fitness by Pete and Bonnie Zemo, the fitness club owners,” admitted Sebold.
 
“No matter what is going on, their main concern is to make sure that the members are enjoying the facilities and having fun.”
 
The classes will be offered at a monthly rate allowing customers to really take advantage of fitness programs at a lower cost. Participants can pay a ‘drop-in’ fee, a weekly fee, or a monthly fee. Those who have memberships to WOC Fitness and are members of the Ocean Pines Community are able to participate in all classes. The class schedules will be changing periodically to assure the enhancement and growth of each program being held in Ocean Pines.
 

The following classes will be held at the Ocean Pines Community Center Gym:

BODYTALK

Thursdays from 9 – 10 am. Instructed by Sue. One hour of cardio, toning and flexibility. If you want to lose fat or change your body, one of the most important things you can do is lift weights. Diet and cardio are equally important, but when it comes to changing how your body looks, weight training wins – hands down. If you’ve hesitated to start a strength training program, it may motivate you to know that lifting weights can: help raise your metabolism, strengthen bones, and help you avoid injuries, increase your confidence and self-esteem, and improve coordination and balance. All levels are modified. *Bring your own hand weights, water, and a towel.
 
PILATES
Tuesdays from 6 – 7 pm. Instructed by Bonnie. The Pilates ‘Method’, as it is now known, is an exercise system focused on improving flexibility, strength, and body awareness without necessarily building bulk. The method is a series of controlled movements standing or on a mat. *Bring your own mat.
 
FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH & CARDIO
Tuesdays from 5 – 6 pm. Instructed by Jeannie. This 60-minute program strengthens all of your major muscles in an inspiring, motivating group environment with fantastic music and awesome instructors. With simple athletic movements like squats, lunges, presses, curls, and others, this class is for all ages and all fitness levels. Exercises can be modified for everyone. *Bring water and a towel.
 
TOTAL BODY FITNESS
Tuesdays from 9 – 10 am. Instructed by Jeannie. Total Body Workout helps blast away fat using the latest in fitness science. Alternate between weight-bearing exercise and high or low intensity cardio. This class is meant for all fitness levels. Work your way to a new body.
 
YOGA
Mondays from 4:45 – 6 pm. Instructed by Tana. Basic asana (postures) are presented, along with preparatory warm up and breathing techniques. This class is appropriate for those new to yoga or for those continuing students who want to further master or refine the basic postures and concepts. All skill levels are welcome. *Bring your own mat or towel.
 
ZUMBA
Mondays from 6 – 7 pm. Instructed by Karen. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective, and totally exhilarating – often building a deep-rooted community among returning students.
 
ZUMBA GOLD
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 – 8:45 am. Instructed by Donna. Zumba Gold targets the largest growing segment of the population: Baby Boomers. It takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all the elements of the Zumba-Fitness Party; zesty Latin music, salsa, merengue, cumbia, and raggaeton. The exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves and invigorative party-like atmosphere are fun. Active older adults want camaraderie, excitement and fitness as a regular part of their weekly schedule. Zumba Gold is the perfect fit. It’s a dance-fitness class that feels friendly, and most of all, fun.
