In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we often forget to take a step back and have a a little non-holiday related fun. This Friday night is your chance to unwind with some foot stompin’ fun at the Get Bluegrass! 2013 event in Snow Hill. In addition to enjoying live bluegrass, you will be supporting a truly great local organization, the Lower Shore Land Trust.

The event, which is scheduled for this Friday, December 20 from 6pm to 11pm at the Old Snow Hill Fire Hall, will feature an evening of pickin’ and grinnin’ with Chester River Runoff and Saltwater String Band. Special guests Magnolia Grove will also perform, opening the show and kicking off the evening. Tickets are $25 and includes admission to the venue plus your first beverage (tickets are $15 for anyone under 21). BBQ will be available for purchase on site, along with local brews and wines. While you’re toe tappin’, enter to win any of the fabulous items featured in the silent auction.

The Lower Shore Land Trust works across Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties to protect our local forests and farmlands in an effort to promote a stronger local economy while promote conservation. The mission of the Lower Shore Land Trust is to assist landowners and communities to conserve land and natural resources in our area. This weekend’s event is a great opportunity to show your support not only for the Lower Shore Land Trust, but for our local environment and rural landscapes.

Chester River Runoff are an original bluegrass band from right here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Since their debut in 2004, the Runoff have played everywhere from Ram’s Head Live to the DC Bluegrass Festival, sharing bills with big names such as the Fleshtones and the Avett Brothers. Their distinctive style can also be heard all over the Eastern Shore, from Dogfish Head to this Friday’s event.

Saltwater String Band is a high energy, low stress bluegrass group hailing form Ocean City. The constituent members and Ocean City locals Nate Clendenen, Darin Engh and Bob Wilkinson are frequently joined by guest musicians, including a few members of Chester River Runoff.

We don’t know about you but an evening full of good tunes, solid vibes, and frosty brews is exactly the sort of holiday reprieve we’ve been looking for. See ya’ll there!
