Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is known for their beautiful landscapes, fun atmosphere and stellar shopping. Most of us know Rehoboth for the Tanger Outlets, quirky new restaurants (that ShoreBread is just DYING to cover) and the lively downtown boardwalk area that caters to just about everyone. Each October, the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce throws the festival of the fall: the 25th Annual Sea Witch Halloween & Fiddlers’ Festival. This fest has been given multiple awards such as: Outstanding special event by Delaware Tourism, Top 250 events by Business News, five time winner of Top 100 events for American Business Association, Delaware Today’s best annual event and Delaware State’s Fiddler’s Festival. The festival runs from Friday, October 24th until Sunday, the 26th.
This year, the town is celebrating 25 years of the successful festival and deeming it “wicked, wild and wonderful” … which is ultimately the perfect slogan for the Halloween-themed party. The festival only takes place for three days but is jam-packed with fun events, awards, parties, runs, dancing, eating and costume dressing. If you’re looking for a GREAT way to ring in Halloween then look no further, the Sea Witch Festival is the place for you and your family. There will be two trick or treating opportunities in the resort area. There will be trick or treating in Dewey Beach on Friday, October 24th from 6:30PM to 7:30PM and again Saturday night with the Rehoboth Beach Downtown Merchants. There will be an enhanced bandstand schedule where artists like Neon Swing X-perience, Jimi Smooth & HitTime, The Funsters and New Sweden will rock the stage. Balloon twisting, tyke bike races, choo-choo express train rides, movie (and yes, they’re playing Hocus Pocus), fall fun at the local YMCA and costume parades are just a few of the fun ways Sea Witch celebrates the season.
Sea Witch has also decided to add in “The Lucy & Ricky Tribute Show” which will include two 60-minute shows on Sunday, October 26th in the Rehoboth Convention Hall. The show will feature hilarious skits and exciting musical performances by two of the best impersonators of the famous duo.
In addition to all those fun activities, there will bundles of old fashion beach games for families and friends of all ages. Some of these include: peanut on the nose race, pumpkin dash, slippery swords, hula hoop twist offs, frog hop, duck crawl and beach ball roll. With the beautiful weather and the stunning beach backdrop, you’re sure to have a great time. Two of the bigger games are “Brooms Fly at the Wacky Broom Tossing Contest” and the “Seawitch Hunt.”
With the wide array of fall friendly games, they also offer the The Sea Witch 5K Fall Classic and 1 Mile Fright Walk at Grove Park on Sunday, October 26th. The walk/run is famous for the fabulous costumes participants wear while competing. The Webfooter’s Walk is an alternative to the run and the “Best Costumed Dog” Parade is fun for you to bring your favorite four-legged friends.
