It’s time to start seriously thinking (instead of day dreaming) about the weekend. We’re hoping for warmer weather than last weekend, but either way, you can bet we will be out and about enjoying all that Delmarva has to offer. Downtown Salisbury is celebrating big this Friday with their 3rd Friday lineup of arts and entertainment, the brand new Ocean City Performing Arts Center will hold their Grand Opening Event, the Marian Anderson String Quartet will perform in Lewes in honor of Martin Luther King Weekend, and Rehoboth’s Blooming Boutique kicks off their month-long food drive for the Delaware Food Bank. There’s all that and more happening this weekend:
3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury

It may be cold outside, but that’s not stopping Downtown Salisbury from celebrating their beloved 3rd Fridays! Restaurants and shops will feature 3rd Friday menu specials and sales, and local bars will feature live entertainment all night long. At Salisbury University’s Downtown Campus on North Division Street, two new exhibitions will open: Nelson Smith’s Language of Regional Spirit and Travis Children’s Office Aesthetics. The Art Institute and Gallery will also feature a brand new show: All About Color. As always, enjoy the live music and local art featured throughout Downtown Salisbury during the first 3rd Friday of 2015!
Old Pro Golf Putt Putt Tournament

Old Pro Golf is raising money for the Believe in Tomorrow Children’s House by the Sea this Friday with their Putt Putt Tournament. The tournament will be held at the 68th Street indoor location and will include food and drinks, a skee ball tournament, DJ Joe Daddy, a 50/50, and raffles. Registration begins at 5:30pm. 100% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Children’s House by the Sea.
East Coast Commercial Fishermen & Aquaculture Trade Expo

Coastal Concerts Presents: Marian Anderson String Quartet

Set to coincide with Martin Luther King Weekend celebrations in Lewes, Coastal Concerts presents the Marian Anderson String Quartet, a distinguished ensemble with accolades that include winners of the 1991 International Cleveland Quartet Competition, the 2008 Chamber Music America Guarneri String Quartet Award, the 2006 Congress of Racial Equality Martin Luther King Award for Excellence in Arts and Culture. The group has performed everywhere from the 1993 Presidential Inauguration to soup kitchens. Tickets are on sale now through the Lewes Chamber of Commerce.
Blooming Boutique & Delaware Food Bank

Blooming Boutique, located in Rehoboth Beach, DE, is hosting a month-long food drive for the Food Bank of Delaware. Simply bring in items for the drive and receive a discount off of your purchase or off of a future purchase. One item donated equals a 10 percent discount, three items equals a 20 percent discount, and five items yields a 30 percent discount. Discounts are applicable to anything in the store except jewelry.
Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra at the OC Performing Arts Center

At the tail end of 2014, we were lucky enough to get a tour of the new Performing Arts Center in the Ocean City Convention Center. We were immediately impressed with the new facility and are equally as excited for what the future holds for the auditorium. Up first is the Grand Opening performance featuring the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra with a guest performance by the OC Stars. Ticket prices for the Grand Opening Celebration range from $24-$45. Tickets include complimentary hors d’ouevres. The event runs from 6:30pm until 10pm.
Nautical & Wildlife Art Festival & Craft Show

It’s Delmarva’s premier presentation of nautical & wildlife artists, with noted painters, sculptors, model shipbuilders, and multimedia artists. Show times are 10am until 5pm at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center.
