What’s not to love about Chincoteague?? Small town pride, outstanding events, great dining and shopping options, scenic beauty…there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy in Chincoteague, including their upcoming Saltwater Brew ‘N’ Que, which is set to debut this weekend. The weekend event boasts a barbeque cook-off, beer tasting, cars on display, live music, and family attractions.

The Saltwater Brew ‘N’ Que will take place this Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, at the Chincoteague Fairgrounds. Part BBQ competition, part car show, part beer festival, the two-day event will likely draw big crowds, as locals and visitors flock to the fairgrounds to celebrate spring. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Department.

Friday night will feature the People’s Choice Wing Tasting event, which will be held from 4pm until 10pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate ($5) and participants will have a chance to taste and vote on wing contenders.

Saturday, the food frenzy continues with the professional BBQ competition. Not a BBQ fan? No worries, there will be plenty of food vendors on hand. Saturday also includes the classic car show, live music, a kids’ zone, and more. The craft beer tasting event will also take place on Saturday, with tickets sold for $15 in advance or $25 at the gate. Large beer pours are not included in the ticket price. Expect plenty of local breweries to be in attendance, including Tall Tales, Dogfish Head, Fin City, and Chesapeake Brewing Company. Event hours for Saturday are 10am until 8pm.

And lastly…the after party! The Jackspot Restaurant (located on Main Street) will celebrate with live music, drink and food specials from 7pm until 10pm.

Event Director Daina Behe said, “we are so excited to be bringing a new spring event to Chincoteague. The combination of BBQ, craft beer, classic cars, and music will be a great one, and families are encouraged to attend. We hope this becomes an event that grows each year.”

Of course we couldn’t let a new event debut without attending ourselves so stay tuned for our photos on Facebook and Instagram this weekend as we make a day trip to Chincoteague to attend the inaugural Saltwater Brew ‘n’ Que!!
