The holiday season is well underway on Delmarva, which means it’s time for our annual roundup of the area’s holiday tree lightings! Each of our local towns plays host to their own holiday celebrations, which typically begins with an annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Of course, it’s impossible to hit them all, but we will certainly try. Take a look and start making your plans for a little festive holiday fun!

Berlin

Friday, November 27 – The Town of Berlin has several holiday celebrations lined up, starting this Friday, November 27 with the town’s annual Holiday Arts Night. The festivities begin at 5:30pm, with shops and restaurants featuring artists and specials. Activities will also be available throughout downtown, including a live jazz performance at the Berlin Visitors’ Center. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will also be available for photos with children before the tree lighting. Be on the lookout for the three ice sculptures as well, two of which are pre-made and a third that will be sculpted in front of the crowds. Of course the highlight of the evening will be the tree lighting, which will take place in front of the Atlantic Hotel at 5:30pm.

Snow Hill

Tuesday, December 1 – In Snow Hill, the holiday season will officially begin on Tuesday, December 1 with the annual tree lighting in Byrd Park on Market Street. Holiday lights will illuminate at 5:30. Participants are also invited to hang red ribbon bows on the Town Tree. The event will also include seasonal music, holiday readings, and an appearance by Santa Claus.

Bethany Beach

Saturday, December 5 – Bethany Beach is celebrating the holiday season with three, back-to-back ‘Weekend Wonderland in Bethany’ events, starting on Saturday, December 5 with the inaugural tree lighting and of the Tree of Warmth on the Bandstand at 6pm. Enjoy cocoa and sing carols led by the Lord Baltimore Children’s Choir.

Lewes

Saturday, December 5 – Historic Lewes will host their old fashioned Christmas parade on December 5, along with the annual tree lighting and candlelight caroling.

Rehoboth

Friday, November 27 – The Rehoboth Beach Tree Lighting will begin at 6:30pm with a holiday sing-along hosted by Doug Yetter and the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus. The tree lighting will take place at 7:30pm, with plenty of terrific opportunities for dining and shopping afterwards.

Milton
Saturday, November 28 – The Town of Milton presents their 3rd Annual Lighting of the Park at Milton Memorial Park on Saturday, November 28 at 6pm. Come early to shop and dine in the town and stick around after the tree lighting for the annual holiday event at the Milton Theater: Gypsy Wine, A Celtic Christmas (starting at 8pm).

Easton

Saturday, December 5 – Easton will kick start the holiday season with their annual tree lighting and parade in Thompson Park on December 5 at 6pm. The annual parade will follow immediately after the tree lighting.

Salisbury

Friday, December 4 – The annual Downtown Salisbury tree lighting will take place on December 4th, with activities set to start at 5pm. This year’s tree has been donated by P&J Tree Farm. The tree lighting will be accompanied by performances by local elementary school choirs, Feet of Fire dance academy, and The Home Malone’s. The event will also include the 2nd annual wreath decorating contest with food available for purchase from local vendors and food trucks.

Cambridge

Saturday, December 5 – Cambridge will bring back the world’s first bushel basket tree for the holidays, but with promises for a bigger and better tree this year. The tree lighting will also kick off the annual Christmas parade through Downtown Cambridge. The tree will be positioned at the corner of Gay and Race Streets.
