Asparagus and Berries and Melons – Oh My!
The sun has finally made its appearance here and Delmarva…and local farmer’s markets are gearing up for a BUSY season. We stopped in at Parkers Produce & Seafood on route 50 in Pittsville to see (and sample!) some of what area farmers are serving up!
While the first of the fresh goodies are brought in from farms in the Carolinas…as the weather warms up – the more local the better! The first of this seasons local bounty are the STRAWBERRIES! While I might be a little bias in this department, it’s hard to argue with the notion that the berries grown on Delmarva are some of the very best!
But, Parker’s doesn’t just carry fresh produce, they also feature a wide variety of sauces, jams & jellies, juices, nuts – even cotton candy! And, let’s not forget about the fresh seafood, flowering plants, and locally made Ice Cream. Everywhere we turned we saw another “must have”!
