It’s time to paint the town…literally. Snow Hill will enjoy their annual Plein Air event this weekend, as 70 artists gather in Snow Hill for the relaxed, non-competitive painting event. Artists will travel from all over the mid-Atlantic region to gather in Snow Hill and paint outdoors, on location.
This is the 11th year for the Eastern Shore’s first ever Plein Air Event. New this year is the “Wet Paint” Show & Preview Sale on Saturday evening, April 19, at 6pm. Patrons will have the chance to give the Paint Snow Hill Paintings that have been created over the last three days. The Preview Party also allows those attending to see the work before the general public and to purchase the paintings fresh off the easels. Cost for the Preview Party is $30 per person and can be applied to the purchase of a painting. Light refreshments will also be provided. The show on Sunday, April 20, will be held from 1pm until 4pm with free admission at the Old Firehouse on Green Street.
Plein air is an expression which means “in the open air.” The popularity of painting has endured into the 21st Century, with Plein Air events all over the country and the Eastern Shore as well. Locally, Berlin and Ocean City host Plein Air events, showcasing artists from near and far.
