Weekend Happenings: Fall Fun in October with Rockfish, More Craft Brews, Scrapple and Cruisers

October is here. The weather is cooler, barely getting past the high 60’s (YAHOO!) and we’re seeing mums, pumpkins and fall specials galore all around town. Its ShoreBread’s favorite time of year and this weekend is no exception, there are so many fun events happening and with the forecast showing blue skies, crisp air and sunshine it will be one to remember. We’re welcoming the cruisers, a beer fest bringing in breweries all the way from Louisiana, scrapple lovers and rockfish. Hey October, we love ya!

Ocean City Cruiser Weekend

October 9^th-12^th

The 17^th Annual Endless Summer Cruising 2014 is Ocean City’s fall classic automotive event festival that will take place at the beachside inlet parking area, convention center and boardwalk. The event is expecting to host nearly 50,000 spectators while showcasing up to 750 classic cars rumbling down the boardwalk.

Apple Scrapple Festival in Bridgeville, DE

October 10^th-11^th

If you know Delmarva at all, you know we love our scrapple. Like really, really love our scrapple. Bridgeville, DE hosts the Apple-Scrapple Festival every year bringing thousands and thousands of visitors to the area each October. The Food Court is one of the festivals main attractions, with everything from apple dumplings to scrapple sandwiches, wings, fries, pies, oyster sandwiches, BBQ and more! In addition to the food (our favorite part), there is a car show, a pageant, a carnival, a 5K, a scrapple chunkin’ contest and entertainment every night.

42nd Annual Chincoteague Oyster Festival

October 11^th

This festival is a local favorite located at Tom’s Cove Park. The event is an all-you-can-eat setting from Noon until 4PM and features oysters on the half shell, steamed, fried, fritters, clam chowder, clam fritters, steamed crabs, salad bar, French fries, hush puppies, hot dogs and more! It’s all about the oysters though.

Good Beer Festival

October 11^th-12^th

The Good Beer Festival is a popular event in Salisbury at Pemberton Park. It offers festival-goers unlimited tastings from over 125 different American Craft Brews. More importantly, the event includes a local beer garden, which provides you with the unique opportunity to experience all the flavors of our local favorites. The event will take place from 12:30PM to 6:30PM daily and will include breweries from all over the place. Such as 3^rd Wave, 16 Mile, Blue Moon, Burley Oak, Dogfish Head, Evo, Flying Dog, Goose Island, Heavy Seas, Kona Brewing Co, Sam Adams, Leinenkugels, Sierra Nevada, Tall Tales, Union Craft Brewing, Abita, Allagash, Backpocket Brewing, Blue Mountain Brewery, DuClaw, Saranac, Backshore Brewing Co and Victory, JUST TO NAME A FEW! If you’re a beer lover, you cannot miss this event… if you’re not a beer lover, you still don’t want to miss it.

RocktoberFest

October 11^th-12^th

With fall, comes fishing. Ocean City’s October season is known as “Rocktober” due to the amounts of Rockfish people catch during this time of year. This is also Ocean City’s only 24-hour Rockfish tournament. In addition to the coveted Rockfish, you can also qualify by catching Flounder, Trout and Tautog. The tournament stars on Saturday at 4PM and ends at 4PM on Sunday and ends with an awards banquet around a bonfire and a pig roast on the beach at Fishtales!
