Welcome to the first weekend of August, y’all. We can’t believe the last month of summer is finally upon us. Fall is right around the corner and we want to soak up the sweet, warm sun as much as we possibly can before the clocks “fall-back” and we’re in bed by 8PM. (C’mon, we know you do the same). This weekend promises to keep you busy, and outside! So if you’re looking for something slightly more exciting than just lying on the beach (although, we are happy doing just that) check out some of the fun events going on this weekend here on the Eastern Shore!

Here’s to hoping the rain stays away and we can take full advantage of this busy, outdoorsy weekend!

Berlin Peach Festival

Each year during the first weekend of August, locals and tourists flock to the Taylor House Museum and Main Street to celebrate Berlin’s heritage and all things peach. This year the festival is scheduled for August 2nd from 11AM to 4PM with a rain date of August 3rd.  Taylor House Museum is proud to announce that they will have over 33 vendors this year with 19 of them selling crafts, 8 of them offering foods and baked goods and 6 demonstration vendors. It’s a favorite event of ours, see you there!

(RAIN DATE OF AUGUST 3RD)

OC Tall Ship Event

Opening to the public this weekend, El Galeon, the 16th Century vessel replica war ship, will be docked in our resort town for an entire month. The ship was very popular during its first visit last August and it will be docked again at the Bayside Pier between 3rd and 4th streets. It will be open to the public for a whole month starting August 1st and leaving the docks to head to its next destination on September 1st.

Blessing of the Combines

Snow Hill is known for their deep roots and dedication to heritage. The Blessing of the Combines is the 16th year for the celebration and welcomes the harvest season. Festivities will begin on Green Street at 10:30 this Saturday, August 2nd with live music and fun activities. The parade of the combines begins on Rt. 12 to Green Street at 11:15AM. Other fun activities will also involve a petting zoo, a hay ride and a tractor pull.

Lewes 2014 Antique Show

The popular Lewes Historical Society is celebrating its 51st Annual Outdoor Antique Show this Saturday, August 2nd from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. It is open to the public and costs only $5.00, with children under 12 free. There are nearly 60 high quality antique dealers who participate in the show and feature antiques from as far back as the 18th century. In addition to the show, they will offer tours of the many museums around the area on Second Street, along with festive live music by local favorite David Zipse. There will be delicious food served by Casa Amici and cold Italian ice by Vitale’s Italian Ice.

We told ya, there are so many fun events this weekend!

So pick your poison- pirate ships, peach treats, tractors or antiques… We might hit up each one!
