As they say, all good things come to an end, but for most it’s only temporary. Like the Wicomico County Fair that was celebrated this past weekend at the Winterplace Park in Salisbury, MD. If you were one of the lucky folks that was able to attend, then you know just how much there was to see and do at the Annual Fair this year. What an amazing production created, managed and executed by so many planners and volunteers. We went straight to our friend, Zach Evans, and also the 1st Vice President of the Wicomico Farm & Home Show Board for his insight regarding this year’s festivities.

“We felt it was a huge success.  With well over 15,000 attendees and probably closer to 20,000 throughout the course of the weekend we were thrilled that so many folks from our community could come out and join us.

The Mason Dixon Deputies Mounted Shooting Competition was a huge hit and had 1,000s of spectators both days.  The Livestock Barn was a huge hit as always and continued to be our number 1 draw.  We had 1,500 more indoor competitive entries than in years past, in addition we had over 1,200 4-H entries which was a new addition to the fair this year.

The carnival and amusements section was much larger this year and the helicopter rides over the fair grounds were also very popular with attendees.  But nothing can top the fireworks show which was well received and was an excellent 30 minute show.  We were also honored to have Governor Larry Hogan stop by on Saturday and tour the fair for a few hours.  Before leaving he presented me with a Governors Citation recognizing 80 years of tradition addressed to our Board of Directors and Event Organizers which was an awesome experience,”stated Evans.
