Over the past four months we have gone through several different emotions. Making the decision to buy an old home, knowing full well the renovations that would have to take place, were big ones. Trying to sell the current home simultaneously is even more trying. We are wrapping up the loose ends at The Humphreys House and have made the gametime decision to make the move today.

There are many who dispute the fact that we are ready to move in, but going into it thinking of it as an adventure, makes it all the more fun for the whole family. We have the necessities – heat, plumbing, electricity, and the refrigerator is being delivered today. I could go on and on about how spoiled we are as a society, and how many live without many of those things that we hold so important, but I won't. Instead, I will focus on the positives and the holiday season and the importance of spending time with loved ones. We have had more help from friends and family with the loose ends, packing and moving and barring any unforseen circumstances, we should have all of our necessary household items in the house by bedtime tonight.

The kids' rooms will have their beds and clothing for this season. We will have lighting in the new kitchen and a shower curtain up for privacy in one of the bathrooms. Yes, we are still waiting on finishing the trim, priming some areas and painting the final coat on others, as well as there isn't any new flooring in the bathrooms, yet we are still happy to begin the process of settling in. This is not to say it will be difficult to leave behind the home that we have raised our family in for the last 9 years, but starting over is refreshing. A clean slate just in time for the new year.

Wish us luck and hold on for more photos of the finishing work that will be done!
