Chesapeake Martial Arts in West Ocean City, MD will be hosting a free Women’s Self Defense class aimed towards young woman, students, and others who would like to improve their personal safety practices. The classes will be held once a week and are open to the public.

The free class is designed to provide valuable information about staying safe. Women will get hands-on practical training as well as learn to use verbal skills, stance, and distance to stay safe.  The class will help women project confidence, breathe under pressure, use their body as a weapon, and go for the weak spots on an attacker.
Every Monday during the month of August, a class was held. This Monday, August 26th marks the last free class of the month.
“We have had such a great response so far, we are hoping to have the classes once a month moving forward,” said Tanja Giles, an instructor at Chesapeake Martial Arts.
This Monday’s class starts at 8 pm and will last about one our. The free class will be taught by certified, black belt, instructors.
No experience is required to participate. It is suggested that participants wear casual and comfortable clothes. The class is open to women and teens (ages 13 years and up) and registration is preferred. If you are interested in seeing self-defense classes offered at the martial arts studio on a monthly basis, let the CMA staff know.
Those who have already taken self-defense courses, offered elsewhere or at the CMA facility, are welcome to attend the free class or classes. Participants will be broken into groups based on their experience, knowledge, and abilities.
