Welcome to Ocean City’s official off-season… It used to be that the day after Labor Day in a beach town began the off-season. Not anymore. With non-stop events occurring every weekend for the past 9 weekends in our beach towns, it’s apparent that all big events are now out of the way. Proceed with the fun, family-friendly events and activities that are more than special to those who live year round on the shore. Check out a few of ShoreBread’s favorite events taking place in Berlin, Pocomoke, and Salisbury this weekend…

2nd Friday Art Stroll

The town of Berlin, MD is gearing up for November’s 2nd Friday Art Stroll on Friday, November 9th. Ocean City photographer, Mark Huey, will have items on display at Burley Oak Brewery during the event. His latest work includes photo prints of the Eastern Shore, mixed-media works, and an installment of an ‘InstaBerlin’ collection composed of photos taken using Instagram. The Art Stroll will take place from 5 to 9 pm and many businesses on Main Street will have extended hours for visitors and shoppers.

Let’s Hear it for the Bay

The Delmarva Discovery Center in Pocomoke City will be holding an event titled “Let’s Hear it for the Bay” on Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. The Discovery Center sits right over the Pocomoke River and serves as a source of learning and discovery for the public through the preservation and interpretation of its cultural and natural heritage. Bethany Kivela will present a segment called “Diamond Back Terrapins” on behalf of the Maryland Environmental Service. Children can see and interact with live animals. All activities (face painting, crafts, and more) are free with the cost of museum admission.

Creating Comics

The Wicomico Public Library, Salisbury Centre location, will host a comic book class this Saturday, November 10th at 2 pm. PLB Comics will teach teens how to draw, put together, and create their own comic books. PLB Comics is an independent group of artists and writers based on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The event is free to attend. Call the library to RSVP: 410-546-5397.
