This seems to be the endless winter! I don’t know about you but I’m starting to feel like I live in a snow globe. It’s the perfect time to go on vacation to a warmer climate but if you can’t book a flight to escape from the cold, try these warming tips.

Food for Thought:
If you wish to warm up quickly try adding some of these foods to your diet…

Cinnamon, Garlic, Ginger, Rosemary, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Peppers, Arugula, Mustard Greens and Papaya. These foods can increase blood circulation and have a warming effect on your core temperature. An excellent quick fix if you want to take the chill off would be a hot bowl of soup and a glass of ginger tea. Ginger also reduces inflammation so it’s great if you have aches and pains.

Try Some TLC:

A little tender loving care for yourself goes a long way. By taking good care of yourself you feel better, which works wonders on getting through the winter blues. It’s important to get sunshine for vitamin D and exercise to increase your blood circulation. You can prevent dehydration and keep wrinkles away by nourishing your skin with a hydrating spa facial and a massage with hot stones will help to melt your worries away. Peace out in a steam room or sauna. If you are chilled to the bone, jump in a warm Epsom Salt bath. This can do wonders for a muscle fatigue; it also increases body heat and can detoxify for better health. Be sure to drink plenty of water after to keep hydrated. If you don’t have time to pamper yourself just try snuggling up with a loved one or a pet, the body temperature will be sure to warm your body and soul. Also try to have a joyful heart and appreciate the beauty of the season if you can. There is something magical about a beautiful snowy day. We only have a little bit longer and it will go away.

Add Some Color to Your Life:

Based on Feng Shui theory your environment has a direct influence on your mood and your life. If you use multiple colors in your home it is more mentally stimulating. This can lift your spirits if the weather is getting you down. Red is the perfect warming color to use because it increases your blood circulation. Use red sheets on your bed, which can also heat up your sex life. Winter weather requires bundling up in layers so it’s best to choose red jackets, gloves and socks because it will keep you warmer than any other color. Also keep in mind that mittens keep your hands warmer from the body temperature of your other fingers and down coats are best for holding in heat.

Home Sweet Home:

There is nothing as cozy a warm house on a cold winter day. It’s not so sweet if you’re freezing. So try these tips. Throw rugs down to keep it warmer. Close doors to rooms. Check doors and windows for drafts. You can cover windows with clear plastic protection or purchase heavier curtains. It’s best to open curtains when the sun is out and close when it’s not. If you really can’t get warm you can put a blow dryer on your body for a few minutes or better yet throw your pajamas in the dryer to warm up. Lastly bake some nourishing food and leave the oven door open after cooking for extra heat. There is also something comforting about the aroma of a home cooked meal.

Have a great winter and keep warm!
