We’ve finally made it to the end of February, which means spring is just around the corner! We hate to rush through any month of the year, but with the bitterly cold weather and the snow (let’s not forget the wind), it’s safe to say we are over winter. Nonetheless, there are still plenty of events to check out during the last weekend of February, including bridal shows, 5k runs, celebrations, historical tours and more! Take your pick:
Lantern Tour at the Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum
Friday, February 27, 7pm-8:30pm
The Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum and the Delaware Seashore State Park invites you to step back in time. This Friday, experience what the surfman would have endured at the turn of the century as interpreters in period dress recount the daily lives of those who worked for the United States Life-Saving Service. Take in the tales of tragedy and mystery that occurred along the Delaware beaches over 100 years ago. Dress for the weather, the night includes a walk out onto the beach. Program fee is $10 per person, per-registration is required.
Little Beat 5k
Saturday, February 28, 10am-noon
February isn’t the ideal time to be running outside, but for the Mended Hearts Feet for the Little Beat Run, we’ll bundle up and enjoy the brisk run! The annual run will be held Saturday, February 28 at the Links at Lighthouse Sound Golf Course. There will be options for a 5k run or a one-mile walk. To register, visit octrirunning.com.
Reach the Beach School Cheerleading Nationals
Friday, February 27-Sunday, March 1
Recreation and school cheerleading teams from around the world will convene at the Ocean City Convention Center this weekend to compete at the annual Reach the Beach tournament. Prize money, fabulous individual and partner stunt awards, the unbeatable atmosphere, unstoppable fun and more, make this the premier Cheerleading National Championship! Stop by and enjoy the stunning performances, happening all weekend-long.
Indoor Soccer Tournaments
Saturday, February 28 & Sunday, March 1
For the past 20 years, the indoor soccer tournaments have grown into a popular event in OCMD. Held indoors at Northside Park, over 150 boys and girls teams will compete over four weekends. Girls and boys under 18 compete. Join in the fun or cheer on the competing teams!
Summer House Winter Beach Party

It’s the party of the season! Say farewell to winter (hopefully) at the Summer House Annual Winter Beach Party! No cover, this event includes passed hor d’oeuvres, photo station, and entertainment by DJ Jazzy G. Dress up in black tie or dress casual, it’s your preference. The fun starts at 8 – what’s better than celebrating the impending arrival of spring!
Downton Abbey Tea Party

The Rehoboth Beach Museum is hosting their second Downton Abbey Tea Party, this Sunday, March 1 from 3pm until 4:30pm. Enjoy traditional tea party food, including scones and new varieties of tea sandwiches, along with tea and costumed characters. The event also includes discussions and quizzes about the show’s latest developments. Participants are encouraged to bring their own tea cup and saucer, as well as family photos taken from the 1920s and 1930s. A $5 donation is suggested and reservations are required. Eastern Shore Bridal Show
